"I can't promise to fix all of your problems, but I can promise you won't have to face them alone"

After an hour of working on my homework from professor Snape, I had finally finished. Its has only been three weeks since the headmaster had asked me to be a teacher's aid and to be honest, I was enjoying it very well. Since I'm in my seventh year, Dumbledore thought it best that I only help with the third years. Being as Lupin was overly qualified to teach the first and second years by himself, and the fifth, sixth, and seventh years would most likely not respect me. Although it irritated me, I would never act upon the hypocritical thoughts.

this only left the third and fourth year students, in which the choice was up to me. Don't get me wrong, the fourth years are great and all. But whether it be a biased opinion or not, I choose to help with the third years. Even though I have only known professor Lupin for a few weeks, I was able to read him easily. He was easy going, but he was more than willing to be stern if need be. He seemed to be holding something back, as if he was afraid to let anyone in but was able to cover it easily with a kind smile. Unless you paid close attention, of course. and there was always a hint of sadness in his eyes, almost as if he's constantly having an internal battle that he deems no one could understand. Nevertheless, he is never seen without a smile and wouldn't speak an ill word of anyone.

Not even the foul person known as Severus Snape, not that I think him as foul. Yes he is unfair towards other houses, but I think he has just had bad experiences in the past. After all, cruel people are not born, but made. Professor Snape has always been somewhat kind towards me. We seem to have an unmentioned understanding towards each other. But ever since Lupin has shown up, you can see the hatred Snape has towards him. Most believe it was just the common hatred between the two houses. But I knew there had to be something more, because that kind of hatred between two people cant just be from their houses.

I look to my alarm clock as it read half past twelve.I silently curse myself as I look at the other bed. Ember, my roommate isn't in her bed but is most likely warming the bed of her boyfriend. She was a nice person and one of the few people I like to call friends. Ember has bright red hair with a sparky attitude and a sharp tongue  that dares you to speak badly about her, but she is extremely loyal and if you befriend her she will take your side over anything. Which is how we instantly became friends.

Taking one last look at the alarm clock, I decide to lay back down and try to get some sleep.

"Alright class, I expect to have those parchment finished by the end of the week. And you do have any excuses to not finish them, because I know you haven't received any homework for tonight." I heard a few groans from the students at the last comment, making me smirk slightly. "You'll definitely be winning teacher of the year award now" I say while the last of the students leave. He chuckles lightly at the comment, "well they need to learn something while in my class."

I scoffed "trust me, you have taught them more in one week then Lockhart taught in a whole term." I never liked that professor, if I should even call him that. Thinking that he would be teaching here longer made me take extra courses with Snape so I wouldn't be stuck in his class for another year. "was he really that bad?" he asked. "Worse" I made my way over to his desk to get my half of the grading papers, while discreetly grabbing a piece of chocolate off his desk. I swear the man has more chocolate than honey dukes.

"I saw that miss Stryker" he says, playfully glaring at me. I gave him an innocent look "I don't know what you are talking about." "Its not nice to steal miss Stryker" I simply rolled my eyes " I wouldn't call it stealing. You have plenty more chocolate where that came from." He simply smiled, knowing it was true and sat down at his desk.

There was a peaceful silence between us as we graded papers. We became friends not long after I became his teacher's aid. He always seemed happy to see me, like I was a long lost friend who had recently returned in his life. who knows, maybe I just reminded him of a friend he use to have.

"Lupin" I asked quietly, not wanting to disturb the silence too much. he turned his head slightly "yes?" I looked at his face, once again noticing the various scars that cover it. I would never asked how he had acquired them, but damn did it make you curious. "how was your childhood like? At Hogwarts I mean." His eyebrow arched slightly but the topic brought a sad smile on his face. "It was wonderful, Hogwarts became my second home. Not only that but I met the best mates anyone could ever have. We were quite the pranksters, but padfoot and prongs would do it every day if the could" he chuckled at the end.

"Wait, were you guys the marauders?" I didn't need him to answer because I already knew. I had their map before I let Fred and George borrow it. "yes, we were. How did you know?"

"Your kidding right? You guys are all Gryffindors talk about. Oh don't let Fred and George know, you will have a fan base by the end of the week" I said laughing a little at the end. "So if they were Padfoot and Prongs then which one were you?" he looked down slightly before speaking "Moony."

"Moony, has a nice ring to it." I say shrugging slightly. He smiles more "Well, since you are a marauder yourself I have a question to ask. do Fred and George's pranks live up to yours?" he chuckled slightly "I must admit, they have made a few amusing ones. But I heard you were quite the prankster yourself."

"I wouldn't call myself a prankster. more of a justice seeker" I say shrugging. It was true, I do have a history of pranking. But only when it needed to be done. Everyone knows that I have pranked before, even some of the professors. But they have never been able to pin them on me.

He was about to reply before we heard a knock on the door. Percy walked in the classroom, his prefect badge where everyone can see. "I'm sorry professor, but do you mind if I borrow Amelia? It's about her prefect duties." I looked at Percy, noticing the slightly overconfident facade he put on in front of Lupin. Instantly, I knew this had nothing to do with my prefect duties.

"Of course Mr. Weasley, I wont be needing her help for the rest of the period anyways." I give him a grateful smile before walking with Percy, his arm around my waist to guide me to where we need to go. "So I'm guessing this isn't about my important duties as a student prefect" I asked sarcastically. He looks around quickly before fully facing me "How have you been?" I shrug my shoulders "alright."

"And your anger issues?" I chuckle slightly "you know good and well they aren't anger issues."

"Well would you rather me ask about whats really wrong?" Percy has always been a little protective of me. Especially after he found out. "I'm dealing Percy, you don't have to check up on me all the time." He sighs "I just worry about you, Amelia your my best friend I'm allowed to worry." It makes me sad that he puts all this pressure on himself about me. Ever since then he would do anything to make sure I was alright. I walk over to him, hugging him tightly "I know, you shouldn't worry too much. You'll wound up getting worry lines before you get out of school". he chuckles "we wouldn't want that now would we?" I nod, letting go of him "well, how else are you suppose to find a girl?"

He rolls his eyes "Lets just go to the lake, I know your dying to go there." I squeal slightly, grabbing his hand as he laughs at my childlike manner. Most people would think we were dating, but we were just too close friends. I could never bring myself to date him or anyone at this school. I don't know why but I just feel like I need to be waiting for someone.

There was no one at the lake when we got there. Most people were in class, and the ones who had a free period were most likely studying for their NEWTS and OWLS. And with Percy and I both being prefects, the teachers wont mind we're out here. I sat down next to Percy beside the tree, laying my head on his shoulder knowing he wont mind.

"How long has it been?" he asks referring to our previous conversation. "About a month" I say shrugging, "you don't have to worry about me this year. I don't know why, but I feel like this year is going different."

"How so?"

"I don't know but there is just know something good will happen to me." He looked to me slightly "well no matter what happens, you'll always have me by your side." Don't make promises your not able to keep Percy.

Ok I have an idea when I want Amelia to realize her feelings for Remus, but I don't know when I will happen. But I do know it won't happen till after chapter 10.
