Remus Lupin's POV
The only thing I had felt was calm. I wasn't in pain and agony, it was pure bliss. I tried to remember what had happened last night. When I couldn't was when I realized that I hadn't taken the potion last night.
I began to fear what might have happened last night when something beside me moved. Slowly, I opened my eyes to a the most beautiful creature I have had the honor of gazing upon.
Amelia laid beside me, her eyes still closed as she slept. Her head rested on my shoulder while her hand lay rested on my chest. My left arm was placed under her while my right hand had gripped itself lightly on her thigh.
Her beautiful blond curls framed her face perfectly. But the most beautiful sight was the content look on her face and her lips stretched into a soft smile.
She was beautiful in every way. Just her being beside me made me forget about any worries I previously had.
I raised my hand and gently caressed her cheek. She moved slightly before her eyes had fluttered open. She looked a little unsure at the moment.
"Remus?"
I smiled lightly "Amelia." She let out a sigh of relief after I said this which made me a little curious. "Why do you sound so relieved?"
She looked nervous and bit her lip slightly, a habit she always had when she didn't want to tell someone bad news.
Dread began to fill me "what did I do?" I didn't want to hear the answer, I was afraid she would tell me I had severely injured someone. Or worse
Bitten them.
She shook her head, knowing what I was thinking. " Remus you didn't hurt anyone badly" she reassured "only a few scratches and a broken ego from Snape." Despite the situation I chuckled. "So what did I do?"
She sat up, looking down at her hands "well, you shifted." She said cryptically. "Naturally" I said, sitting up also. "I'm pretty sure this wasn't a natural occurrence" she said. I gently grabbed the hand she had be starring at so she would look at me. "You can tell me."
She sighed before nodding "well you shifted" she said again. I laughed "I believe we went over that." She hit me playfully in the chest before continuing.
"And while Ron, Harry, and I stayed back, Hermione thought you would remember her." She must've seen the worried look on my face so she continued. "I tried to bring her back but the boys had grabbed me before I could. She called your name, but when you looked up you looked at me instead. You seemed fine at first, happy even. But when you looked at Ron and Harry you had such a hateful glare and charged.
Snape had gotten out of the shack by then and came toward us before you did. He had been in front so you scratched him. We all fell but I was further away from the rest. I didn't know why at the time, but you kept trying to get to me.
Sirius wasn't there when this happened because you threw him off of you when you shifted. But before you got to me Sirius knocked you away. You were about to attack Sirius when I remembered that you knew my scent. At least I hoped you did. So I screamed at you."
The thought of hurting one of my oldest friends was heart breaking. But he knew I wouldn't hurt Amelia. If I had thought she was safe, I would've been calm. But she didn't know that.
