The Best Way To Murder (Suzuya Juuzou)

Chapter 23

(A/N: the Red Spider and Hadani is the same gang. Hadani is Red Spider in Japanese. I mentioned this long ago in one of the chapters just in case you forgot c: )

Suzuya POV

I was sitting on the floor with my elbows resting on my knees. My head was hung low as I looked at the ground, using the tip of my Jason to make lines on the floor under me.

"Day number one. CCG mission - 'Red Spider' extermination" I whispered.

"So far the CCG has had no contact with the 'Hadani' gang whatsoever. They do know where the gang is, but the leaders say it's best if they keep a distance for now" I continued.

"Some of the investigators are getting impatient. Others are happy the CCG hasn't engaged in battle. Suzuya Juuzou, care to share your thoughts?" I liked my lips before speaking again.

"I don't get why we haven't attacked. Perhaps the leaders are waiting for a sign. But I don't want to wait anymore. The excitement is eating me from the inside out. What's the point in following them if we aren't going to do anything? Is the CCG waiting for Hadani to make the first move?..."

"Suzuzya? Who are you talking to?"

I looked up to see a tall figure beside me.

"To myself, Shinohara-san. I've gotta do something to distract my impatience" I answered and he laughed.

"I knew you'd be like this" he took a seat next to me.

"Well you can't blame me. We've done nothing so far. It gets pretty boring" I shrugged.

"It does. But there's not much we can do" I heard him sigh. He shifted a little to see what I had written on the floor with my Jason.

"If I know what love is, it's because of you..." he whispered. "Still thinking about her?" Shinohara asked.

I nodded. "I can't get her out of my head. What if something happens to her..." I gripped my Jason tightly. "...and I'm not there to save her?"

"I don't really know what Emi is like, but I'm pretty sure she has learned to defend herself with you around. You're not exactly the most stable person.." he chuckled.

"What's that supposed to mean?"

"Nothing, nothing..." I saw him smirk.

"Did she say when she's coming back?"

I shook my head. "Hopefully soon..."

Emi POV

"If I know what love is, it's because of you.." I whispered as I traced along the stitches in my hands. It's only been one day, and I already miss him so much.

"Suzuya, I hope you're okay..."

"Here" a voice from behind me said as a bloody arm landed on my hand. Normally I would've eaten it without hesitation. But right now the thought of eating made me sick.

My eyes widened as I just realized what was happening.

"The stitches, they're getting covered in blood" I whispered as I whipped my head In every direction trying to find some sort of way to clean them.

I stood up from the floor and raced to the faucet in the corner. I began scrubbing my hands. I felt the burning sensation of when you're scrubbing too hard, but I just scrubbed harder. When I was done I brought my hands up and noticed they held a reddish color. I put them inside my pockets and walked away from the bloody limb I was given, trying to avoid throwing up. I didn't do a good job though...

Suzuya POV

I clutched my stomach in pain as I tried to get rid of the putrid odor that invaded my nose. It was like I was standing in the middle of a thousand dead bodies, only I wasn't. I was on the mission to exterminate the Red Spider.

"Juuzou, are you okay?" Akira, who was in my same squad, stopped to look at me.

"Yeah, I'm fine" I tried to smile.

I felt a burning sensation in my hands but when I looked at them, they seemed normal.

"Why don't you just sit down?" Akira said grabbing my hands and putting them at my sides.

"I said I'm fi-" I didn't get to finish the sentence. I was stopped when I felt the bile climb up my throat and into the floor next to me.

Merry Christmas everyone! (I know for some of you it was yesterday but here in Puerto Rico It's today)

This was a very short chapter which didn't contain very important stuff but don't worry we're getting there.

I'm just trying to prolong the life of the book and not end it so soon, even though were almost at the end.
