"I don't think this is a good idea..." I said as Suzuya pulled me inside the dark alleyway.
"Nonsense, this is going to be fun!" He cheered making me roll my eyes.
"I don't know what sick idea you have of fun but hunting ghouls is not on my list."
"Then grab a pen because you are about to add it!"
I sighed as we quietly entered deeper inside the alley. Well quiet for me at least, Suzuya was skipping and humming.
"I'm pretty sure we're breaking the rules," I grumbled and Suzuya gave me an annoyed look.
"Stop complaining."
"What are you looking for anyway?" I asked and he perked up.
"We're supposed to be looking for a ghoul with a white wolf mask. He was last spotted here," he said slowing his pace down to a walk.
I looked around. It was about six o'clock. The sun was about to set, painting the sky with different shades of red, pink, orange and purple. It was slightly dark thanks to the height of the buildings around us.
"How does your leg feel?" Suzuya asked after a while.
"It still hurts," I replied honestly and he flickered his gaze to my leg before stopping.
"Sit down," he instructed.
I looked at him but it was impossible to read his face. I haven't been able to do it since I met him.
"Why?" I asked.
"Sit down. I'll come get you when I'm done," he said.
"But what if something happens to you?" I asked and he smirked holding back his laughter.
"You don't need to worry about that," he answered and I rolled my eyes.
"You're not immortal, you know," I said and he looked at me with a confused expression.
"It's not like it would affect you one way or the other," he shrugged as he turned around leaving me with the words in my mouth.
I sighed and turned around ready to leave but something inside me made it impossible. I wanted to leave so badly but my feet stayed glued to the ground.
"This kid has a death wish," I finally said turning around and headed in the direction Suzuya took.
Fifteen minutes passed and there was no sight of Suzuya. I'm pretty sure this was the way he was heading, though. Getting impatient I started yelling his name but still no response.
I started walking faster hoping this way I would catch up to him. He couldn't have got so far ahead.
"Emi? What are you doing here?" A voice asked from behind me. I turned around and my eyes met with a pair of yellow ones.
"Souta?" I asked.
"The one and only," he smirked making me laugh and roll my eyes.
"Seriously what are you doing here? It's dangerous," he said.
"I'm here with... A friend," I answered.
"Hmm," he said scanning me, eyes landing on the cut on my leg.
"Woah. What happened?" He asked reaching out to touch it but I slapped his hand away.
"I was looking for food and a ghoul came," I explained shortly.
"What? And you didn't fight back? Emi you are the most skilled person I know when it comes to fighting," he said.
"I was weak, ok? I haven't eaten in forever!" I groaned and he smiled.
