Blaze Of Fury

The chanting and howling around me blurred as the hours of our travels went by. It dawned on me that perhaps we would be too late, the delinquents would be slaughtered and Anya's people will have returned.

But that wasn't all that was on my mind. I could not forget about the sight of Áki being dragged into the unknown. He was my right hand man, a friend and yet I was unable to protect him. I feared for his life and worried for what pain he might endure.

I had another on my mind, Murphy, of course. Sadly he did not return. Perhaps he decided not to, it would be for the best, being away from me. Though the selfish part of me wanted to keep him all to myself, for reasons even I could not comprehend. Maybe he was dead. Free from the pain of this world, but my idiot self had hope that I would find him some day.

'Chief'

My eyes gazed down gently at the working shoulder muscles of my horse, feeling it's lungs expand and shrink under my legs. It soothed me for what it was worth. I was moments from my possible death. I glanced sorrowfully to my right, where Áki would once have rode beside me. The empty space was cold, and it brought me a hollow feeling inside. If I ever make it out of this, I will come for you, my dear friend.

"Chief!"

I snapped to the left.

"Yes."

"We are close." Adrian informed me.

I nodded and held a fist up, pulling my small army to a stop. I turned around and drew my axe and shield. "Raise the banners!" I ordered.

They lifted out into the air and waved side to side in unison to the excitement of the crowd.

I could hear in the near distance, cries, explosions and gunshots. The battle had not been over yet.

"Be very weary of the enemy, they are strong. And protect our allies, they will prove useful." I announced.

They cheered and pumped their fists with their weapon of choice in hand.

"And now," I growled, my eyes scanning over the eager faces that waited for my mark. "We fight!"

Loud cheers erupted like a storm and both men of horse and foot, charged ahead, both white flags and emerald banners waving about.

"Don't die tonight." I told Adrian. "You are too dear to me."

"I won't, I promise."

I nodded with a beaming smile and we both charged into battle, our hearts pumping as the adrenaline coursed.

Immediately, I jumped off the horse and latched on to the wall. I pulled out a small white flag and clenched it between my teeth.

I looked up and there was a gun pointed between my eyes.

I froze for a second before slowly reaching to hand the flag up.

"We fight with you, not against."

The holder of the gun seemed nervous and weary but did not realise he was inches from death. I pushed him over then ducked, an arrow flying past.

I jumped over the wall and reached down to help the winded soldier. "Spread the word that the men and women in green are here to help." I ordered, pulling my shield up and blocking another arrow. "Now!"

I gave him a shove and spun my axe around and ran across the camp with my white flag.

Another gun was pointed at me and I stopped.

"The ones dressed in metal and green, we  are only here to help." I quickly told her. "Where is Clarke or Bellamy." I then demanded.

She looked me over, noticing a gun at my hip. She must have known that Anya's people did not have such a weapon.
