It's A No From Me

"Open the fucking gate!" I yelled, kicking it as the guard looked down upon me. "Special Delivery!" I emphasised sarcastically.

He looked down the other side of the fence and started speaking to someone without acknowledging me so I gestured for an ax which was thrown to me.

I got it and started hacking away at the door. "Knock knock, bitch!" I yelled, throwing all my strength into each blow to the gate.

It finally slid open and I stepped back, tossing the weapon aside and placing a hand on my hip. "Special delivery!" I chirped, batting my lids at the tall bearded guard.

I grumbled and rolled my eyes, grabbing a tight, forceful hold on the healer, who I have come to know as Lincoln's arm and tugged him along.

I had sent Leo and Murphy back to base because this was a dangerous place for the outsider, and I couldn't risk it. So all I had left trailing behind me was Thore and the twins.

The warrior went to take Lincoln off my hands but I bore my teeth at him while Thore stood taller and puffed out his chest slightly to ward him off.

I dragged Lincoln to Anya's quarters and slammed the door open, finding my son sitting at the table playing with variously shaped wood.

"Bo!" I gasped, falling to my knees with my arms extended.

He piped up at the sound of my voice and came running, throwing his arms around me.

"You kept your promise." Anya stated.

I ignored her and pulled away from my son to get a good look at him. "Mama will never let something like that happen to you again." I whispered.

His face seemed unharmed and everything that I could see seemed fine. Except for his wrists, they were lightly bruised and seemed days old.

I stood furiously and stepped in front of my son, my hand on his head as he held tight onto my thigh.

"Never expect business from me again!" I hissed. "Whatever happens from here, you will have to take it up with your Commander. I will happily watch you suffer as your people starve under your care."

Because he wouldn't be able to walk fast enough, I picked up Bo and turned out of the room, heading out the gates and back home.

It was midday when we finally returned, the base was hustling and bustling as per usual and it looked as if Luna's people were getting ready for departure.

I sat down across from my son who was scarfing down the food we gave him without complaint. Did those bastards not even care to feed him?

He was my weakness, and Anya knew full well of that. But he was my flesh and blood, my sun and skies, of course I would let no harm come to him if I had any say in it.

He was still young, but not so young that he would forget. Perhaps he would have, perhaps the past two days were already forgotten. But for him to remember being ripped away from home and surrounded by strangers could be traumatising.

I sighed and looked down at my hands, I was stuck.

I waved Sanna over from the far side of the room and gesture for her to keep an eye on Bo while I stood and left the hall.

I found Luna ordering her crew around, occasionally throwing cargo at one or two who took too long.

"I want out." I said firmly.

She looked me up and down with a slightly confused expression, "Of what?"

"This!" I gestured the whole area. "This place could get my son killed, being out there on the water is way safer for him."
