Moons passed and the kits hadn't come yet. It was now newleaf, but there was still snow on the ground.

Lightningstorm enjoyed the nursery. She wasn't alone. Her sister, Skyrose moved into the nursery expecting Oakbranch's kits.

"I am going to see the elders," mewed Lightningstorm.

She went to the elders den. It was quite full. Silentstep had retired, but still hunted behind Honeystar's back. Lionstripe had passed on due to a falling tree. Beaverpelt and Serpentheart were still alive. They were just very old.

"Hello, Lightningstorm," coughed Beaverpelt. The former Riverclan tom was a good cat for Lightningstorm to talk to.

"Has any Riverclan cat been able to control the water?"

Beaverpelt stared at Lightningstorm. "Yes, legend says Riverstar could. He used his power to get more fish when he was River. He shared his fish with the ones who needed it. Quite noble if you ask me. Why?"

Lightningstorm had no idea how to reply.

"We are related to him you know?" Beaverpelt added.

"I have that gift," mewed Lightningstorm.

"Great, but something tells me that's not all your power. Lionstripe might have been related to Thunderstar, so watch out. You might have a SHOCKING new power, soon," chuckled Beaverpelt at his joke. "Well, go. Hang out with Browntail."

Lightningstorm laughed, "Ok, tell Serpentheart I said hi when she wakes up."

Lightningstorm went searching for Browntail.

"Lizardleaf, have you seen Browntail?"

Lizardleaf nodded. "He is out hunting with Flamepaw."

Lightningstorm headed out following his scent trail. Suddenly she spotted blood in the snow. Might be prey, Lightningstorm hoped. She sniffed it. It was definitely Browntail's blood. She followed the trail. At the end lay a dead cat. Browntail. "Please, please, please wake up," cried Lightningstorm as she shook her mate. He lay still.

"He was killed by a cat," murmured Lightningstorm seeing that the claw marks matched those of a cat. "And no! No! No! No! Black fur!" Lightningstorm yowled as she removed the fur from Browntail's claws.

Suddenly the wind played a cold trick. It carried the black fur away.

"You killed him!" Flamepaw yowled.

"No! The black cat did! It's fur was in his claws!"

Flamepaw looked at Browntail's claws. "I don't see fur."

"It blew away in that gust of wind a few heartbeats ago!"

Flamepaw stood confused, "What gust of wind?"

Lightningstorm stood in horror. She raced back to camp. "Skyrose, Browntail is dead. Flamepaw thinks I did it. Please convince the clan to bury him next to the tall tree at the Shadowclan border," gasped Lightningstorm.

"I will. Remember that promise we made when we fought that fox?" Skyrose asked.

Lightningstorm smiled. "Sisters forever. Goodbye, Skyrose."

Lightningstorm ran as fast as she could to Shadowclan territory, which wasn't very fast since she is carrying kits.

"Lightningstorm? What are you doing here?" asked a black cat with a single silver stripe.

"Moonspirit! I have been accused of murdering my mate. I must speak to Noblestar, Airblaze, and Lilacleaf," panted Lightningstorm.

Moonspirit led Lightningstorm into Shadowclan camp. "Lightningpaw? Remember me?" asked a white furred apprentice.

"Snowkit! It's Lightningstorm now," purred Snowkit's old friend.

"Well, it's Snowpaw now," laughed the apprentice.

Lightningstorm kept walking. "Lightningstorm!" yowled Airblaze. "You came at a bad time. Noblestar has been murdered!"

Lightningstorm froze. "Black fur under his claws? Odd smelling cat scent?"

Airblaze nodded.

"Well, that's the reason I am here. Same thing happened to Browntail. I grabbed the black fur, but it blew away. I was accused of his murder."
