**TRE'S P.O.V**
I continued walking towards my locker, I slowly went over the conversation in my head that I just had with Sylvia. I just couldn’t stop thinking about it, I just couldn’t stop thinking about her. She was just… I couldn’t even explain in words. But amazing and beautiful came close, oh and down to earth. And she had a fantastic voice. Man, she was the girl I had been waiting for. I got to my locker and took my time opening the lock, no rush. I honestly didn’t care if I was late to class again. I went over the conversation again. I began to worry. Was she really planning to call me? Was I too sudden? Maybe too full on and flirty? I wasn’t sure… she seemed to hide her true thoughts quite well.
‘Hey Tre…’ Liam pulled up beside me and began to fiddle with his lock.
‘Hey bro…’
‘Oh nice shot before, I saw ‘ya take a 3 pointer’ He began to grab out his books.
‘Aha, thanks! Yeah it was pretty amazing…’ I joked. Beginning to grab some of mine out too.
‘Tell me about it man, there’s no way I can shoot that good!’
I began to zone out, I still couldn’t stop thinking about Sylvia. She was just so pretty… I grabbed out my diary to check my timetable, great Maths and Geography. I turned to talk to Liam, but he was already cuddling with Ema, his girlfriend. I glanced at them for a second. I wonder if Sylvia and I will ever end up interacting like they do… I really hope so. I took my time and grabbed my books and pencil case, I looked around. The area was almost empty, yep, I’d be receiving another late note. I began walking really slowly to my maths class, I didn’t care, I wanted to miss out on as much as I could. I just wasn’t in the mood for using my brain cells. I continued to walk again thinking about the conversation and catching up with my mates that were also strolling around the school. Until finally I found the maths class. I walked up the small steps to the door of the transportable classroom and stopped as the door was already shut. Mr Kaymone opened it. ‘You are extremely late.’
‘Sorry…’ I said glumly, smiling at Matt and Ben as I headed towards the back of the room where they were sitting.
‘Diary, on my desk thanks, Tre.’ Mr Kaymone instructed angrily.
I stopped in my tracks and swivelled around. Slowly walking over to the desk at the front of the room and dropping my diary on it, purposely messing up the tidy piles of papers. I looked around then walked to my desired seat. I noticed a few of the girls in the middle watching me and giggling. But for the first time I couldn’t care less, I wasn’t in the mood to flirt with anyone other than Sylvia. I couldn’t really tell why… it just felt awfully inappropriate, almost like I would be betraying her. I sat down next to Ben.
‘How ya’ going Stelvy?’ Ben smiled. Stelvy had always been Ben’s nickname for me. He made it up when he first met me in grade 5, we’d been close friends ever since.
‘Yeah, good I guess…’ I wanted to say fantastic, but for some reason it just didn’t suit my current mood.
‘Why? What’s up?’ Matt asked, being the nosy guy he normally was.
‘Don’t worry about it.’ I smiled trying to avoid the question. I didn’t really want to sound all sensitive talking about how I was worried if an amazingly pretty girl was going to call me or not, he’d probably pay me out.
‘Oh, okay man…’ Matt replied disappointed.
For some reason he always wanted to know almost everything that was going on. ‘Hey Stelvy, who was that girl that you were hanging out with at lunch? Wasn’t she the one that was staring at you this morning?’ Ben asked.
‘Ah, yeah. Her name’s Sylvia…’
‘What year’s she in?’
‘Year 10’
Ben elbowed me ‘She’s pretty cute.’
‘I know, she’s really nice too.’ I smiled, again thinking of our conversation.
‘Well then, if you don’t want her… I’ll have her.’ I looked at him astonished.
‘No way dude! I never said I didn’t want her…’ Ben’s face lit up. Oh no…
‘I knew it man! I knew it! You do like her don’t you! All of us guys were making bets on it, when we saw you with her at lunch! Looks like Franky boy owes me some cash!’ Ben laughed rubbing his fingers together.
Suddenly most of the class looked around. Great… Chelsea and a few of her other friends, turned around from the row in front. ‘Who are you talking about?’
‘Oh, this Year 10 girl that…’ He began to answer.
‘Ben you idiot! Shut up!’ I put my hand over his mouth. ‘There’s no one… He’s just talking crap.’
Chelsea frowned at me, she knew I was lying. I kept my hand on Ben’s mouth until she fully turned around. Suddenly I felt someone standing on my right, I looked around. It was Mr Kaymone. I swear he teleports…
‘What’s going on here Mr Stelvio?’ He asked.
‘Uh, nothing…’ I replied. Oh, man. I hate this guy…
‘It doesn’t sound like nothing. Get on with your work thank you! Next time it will be a behaviour note!’
‘Yes sir…’ I mumbled. I pretended to write as I watched him walk back to the front of the class. I turned to Ben and pointed my finger at him.
‘If you dare tell anyone, I will kill you…’ I tried to look serious and hold back my smile. Ben put his arms up like he had been caught by the cops.
‘I swear man. I won’t tell a soul… Well, except Frank, he owes me.’
I couldn’t help but laugh. I just couldn’t believe how pathetic my group of friends could be. Especially, when it came to girls. From then on the rest of the maths lesson went really slow. It felt like it stretched on for hours. Mr Kaymone told me off like usual for not listening and getting distracted, but this time it was because of something else, someone else. For most of the lesson I stared out of the window thinking of Sylvia, thinking of her pretty face and mysterious personality. Thinking if she would ever be mine to hold close…
