**SYLVIA'S P.O.V.**

I walked towards the two table’s where Tre and his friends always sat at recess. Tre had finally been able to convince me to come along with him to be introduced to them. Apparently they had been nagging him for ages about it. I still remember his enthusiastic words from this morning when he first hopped out of his car “Sylvy, I know what we can do today!” It took some convincing but I finally gave in. It’s just I had never been introduced to a whole lot of guys before, let alone senior guys. But I trusted that Tre knew what was best. Well, I hoped to god that he did.

As we continued walking towards them I began to become extremely nervous and just tried to keep my eyes on the ground. But when I did look up, I noticed a few of his friends craning their heads past Tre to give me grin. I honestly felt a little child, hiding behind my protector. Tre stopped walking and I almost bumped into him. Suddenly he reached behind him and put out his hand, beckoning me to take it, which I did. Using this hold, he carefully pulled me around beside him so we were side by side. Facing the unknown.  “Hey guys, this is Sylvia!” He said enthusiastically, creating that happy atmosphere around him, like usual. Un-expectedly they ceased their conversations and all of them turned to face us.

“Hey…” I said and waved a little awkwardly. This is why I am not a people person.

A few of them nodded almost approvingly and smiled looking me up a down like I was some kind of shiny new object that they had never seen before. I looked away a little embarrassed. Suddenly Tre said my name, and I turned to face him feeling a little absent.

‘This is my good friend, Ben.’ He said nodding towards the good looking guy, with the light brown hair that closely resembled Zac Efron.

‘Hey!’ He said enthusiastically, then smiled and gave me a wave.

‘That’s Jason…’ Tre said pointing towards the guy sitting next to Ben, with the short, sweeping dark brown hair, pale skin and angular features.

‘Hey…’ He said sounding all serious, obviously too cool to wave.

‘That’s Connor.’ He said pointing towards the same stocky blonde guy that I had seen on the first day, the one that had got so angry when Tre was talking to me.

‘Hey babe…’ He said and winked at me, laughing stupidly, sounding like a snorting pig. I’m going to stay well away from that guy. I saw Tre give him a dirty look as he turned towards his other name-less friends.

‘And that’s Frank, Owen and Louis!’ He said pointing towards the three guys sitting in a row on one of the tables. Frank was a tall, tough-looking guy, who appeared he could be in the mafia. While Owen was blond pleasant-looking kind of guy. Now that I think about it he looks a bit like that guy from One Direction. What’s his name? Oh, that’s right, Niall. And Louis was a shortish dark guy, with his hair shaved so close to his head that he reminded me of an American rapper.

‘Hey…’ They all said in unison smiling and giving slight waves.

I smiled and looked to the ground, letting go of Tre’s hand, not realising I had been holding it for so long. Gee, this is getting awkward… But just after that thought they just began to return to their conversations. I relaxed. Tre then swiftly took my hand again and led me over to the closest spare spot on top of the table, he hopped up and patted the place beside him smiling. With a face like that, how could I resist? I hopped up beside him and sat on the edge of the table. Ben turned towards me, leaning over with his arms resting on his knees. ‘So how do you like your new school Sylvia?’ He smiled.

‘Yeah, it’s good, I guess…’ I kind of laughed. I have been asked this question so many times.

‘That’s good! Hey, I heard Mr Reyer sent you outside!’

‘Aha, yeah.’ I laughed looking at Tre, giving him my wow-I-didn’t-know-you-even-talked-about-me-look. He just bit his lip sexily and laughed, looking to the ground.

‘What did you do?’

‘I laughed…’

‘Well, that sounds exactly like him. I still remember that time in Year 10, when Tre and I got sent out of class for flicking paper balls at him when he wasn’t looking. It was absolutely hilarious!’

‘Oh really?’ I said turning to Tre, emphasising how it was the first time I’d ever heard about it. He just smiled and shrugged.

For the rest of recess I sat there next to Tre and listened to the hilarious conversation that him and his friends were engaged in. Every now and then, they would ask me something random, or ask for my opinion, obviously trying to make me feel included. Which worked pretty well. It even got to the point where they started asking me who I thought would be the most attractive girl out of the lot, and I couldn’t help but crack up laughing when Ben began pouting at me.

It felt good to have finally met his friends. And they all seemed like fairly genuine guys. Well, to be honest, I wasn’t quite sure about Connor. He seemed to be the rude, obnoxious one of the group, who was constantly swearing and acting like he was the leader. Normally that species of people I try to avoid. I could also tell that Tre wasn’t really that keen on him, just by the way he looked at him when he spoke rudely in front of us all. But apart from that I really did like his friends. Jason was so reserved and smart, Frank was really welcoming and funny, Owen seemed really friendly and approachable and Louis seemed really cool and level-headed. But out of the group Ben was definitely my favourite. He was such a character, always coming up with hilarious jokes when the time came and including me whenever he could. I also learnt that his nickname for Tre was ‘Stelvy’ and that he first met Tre when he was in grade five. Every now and then I would look at Tre and I couldn’t help but notice how well he fit in with this group. I noticed that he had a different side to him when he was around them. He just seemed so happy and energetic (not that he wasn’t with me) but him and his mates all just seemed to feed off of each other. It was truly a hilarious sight to see.
