I don't know what's worse. Worrying whether or not Race and Ross are safe, or being stuck in a room with two of the worst people in New York. Either way, my current situation sucks.
"So what's your plan?" Oscar asks.
I laugh. "What are you talking about?"
"You didn't come here to apologize. Morris and I both know you would never do that nor would your boyfriend let you. Why are you really here?"
"I came here to visit you two wonderful humans," I sarcastically say. Once again, I feel a sting on my cheek. "Wonderful and violent humans."
"Give it up Sam. What's the real reason your here?"
I look up at the two brothers and smirk. "I wanted to find my missing rainbow unicorn. For some reason it's attracted to total jerks, so I knew it must be here."
"That's it!" Morris yells before punching me across the face.
My head whips to the side as I let out a small yelp of pain. I shut my eyes tightly, trying to hold back tears.
"Listen doll, you don't want to mess with us. If we can do this to you, imagine what will happen to poor little Ross."
I look up at the two brothers. "What have you done to Ross? What did you do to my little brother?!"
Oscar and Morris smirk at each other. "The normal stuff. A bit of hard work, little food, a few beatings here or there," Oscar explains.
I glare at him. "If you have put one finger on him so help me I'll kill you."
The two laugh. "Good luck with that," Morris says.
I close my eyes tightly, hoping that if I didn't see them, they would disappear. Suddenly, I hear the door of the refuge creak open. "About time, Race," I think.
"Oh, is that your little boyfriend?" Oscar asks.
My eyes shoot open. How did they know it was him? "N-no. Race is selling."
Oscar smirks. "Morris, go see who was at the door."
"No!" I stand up and run in front of him, blocking the door. "I mean, why not just stay? I'm sure it's just Snyder or someone like that."
"Move out of the way, Sam. Unless you want us to make you move," Morris sneers.
"You guys can't leave! I-I love you!"
"What?" Both brothers ask at the same time.
"Really Sam? You had to say that?" I think. "Um, Yeah," I finally say. "I've had this stupid little crush on both of you for a while." Both of the boys just stare at me. "Gosh, am I really that ugly?"
Oscar looks at Morris, a smirk growing on his face. "Well, if you love us so much, move out of the way so we can make sure your safe," he says turning back to me.
"I'm right here. It's pretty clear I'm fine."
"Come on doll," Morris says, slowly pulling me away from the door. "You don't know what type of kids are in here. Trust me, we should better check."
"B-but I-"
"Unless you want to tell us something," Oscar interrupts.
Great. No matter what I say Race is bound to get caught. Now I'll be responsible for putting two people in the refuge. Good job Sam!
"That's what I thought," Oscar says, motioning to his brother to follow him out.
"No!" I yell, standing up and punching Oscar from behind.
Both brothers whip around. "Why you little-"
"Let my brother go."
"Or else what?" Morris asks.
"Or-or..."
"Out of ideas?" Oscar sneers, rubbing his jaw.
"Well, I-"
"Sam!" I hear Race yell as he runs inside the office.
"Race?! What are you-" I get cut off as someone punched me, causing me to stumble to the side. I feel a sharp pain in my side.
"Fight now, ask questions later Sam!" Race yells to me before going after Oscar.
I look up just it time to dodge a punch from Morris. "So this was your little plan? Enlist the help of your boyfriend to do what you can't!"
I can feel my fear melt away, getting replaced with anger the more Morris talks. "I guess I expected more from you, Sam. You seemed like such a strong girl. I guess your just as weak as all the others."
I was done listening to him put me down. I punch the brother as hard as I can across the face. "Call me weak one more time! Come on!"
Morris smirks. "You're just a weak little girl." He goes to punch me back, but grab his arm and twist it behind his back, giving him another hit to the face. I look over at Race to see Oscar excepting the fact that he lost.
"Listen to me Morris," I whisper in his ear. "You're going to let Race and I go or, you're going to get a broken arm. Your choice."
Morris says nothing so I pull his arm tighter behind him, causing him to wince. "What's your choice Morris?"
"Get out. Both of you," I hear him mumble.
I smirk and push him away. "I'm not just some weak little girl now am I?"
He rubs his arm. "Just get lost before I change my mind."
I turn around and find Race smirking. "Whip that smirk off your face!" I yell dragging him out of the refuge.
"Sam, I feel like you're forgetting someone."
I stop dead in my tracks. "Where's Ross? Race you got him right?!"
"Sam!" I hear. I turn around.
"Ross!" I run up to him and wrap him into a hug. "Oh thank goodness your safe," I cry into his shoulder.
"Geez Sam. I don't remember you being this soft," Ross says hugging me back.
"I'm so sorry I let them take you. I promise that you'll never have to go back in there again," I say, hugging my brother tighter.
"It's ok Sam. I'm safe now."
I pull away from him. "Let's go home."
Ross smiles and jumps onto my back. "Ride my trusty steed!
I laugh a bit as I start walking back to the lodging house. After a few minutes, I whisper into Race's ear. "Thank you."
