I decided to release a chapter since It'll take a while for people to notice this book or want to actually read it. So here it is!
                  ____________________

I walked into school for the first time without Maya. It felt strange. I now knew who the mysterious Maya Hart loved, and was quite surprised as to who it was.
I walked up to my shiny locker, opening it as Maya walked in. "Hi..." I said nervously. "Riley, I don't like it when you act like this, stop."
Maya snapped. "I read the note." I replied, a slight smile on my face. "Oh." Maya said, her shoulders tensing.

Ring

The bell had rung after Maya's response. I linked my arm with hers, which was decorated with the red velvet sleeve of a jean jacket. She surprisingly let me hold onto her arm as we walked into class.

History

Of course, it's always my father's class, teaching us lessons about what's going on in our lives at just the right time.
I unhinged my arm from Maya's as we departed to our own desk. My father wasn't there, sometimes he wasn't, and that was fine. I smiled at Maya. She didn't look.

Maya, stop ignoring me

"Maya, how long are you avoiding me?" I asked, quoting our recent conversations. Maya looked over at me. "Not avoiding nothing, just life moving on from that note." She replied, playing along.

At least she's playing my game

My dad finally walked in, his briefcase in one hand, his lunch in the other.
"Ok class, feelings start today." He announced, pointing to the huge word on the board. I watched as Maya slowly sunk down in her seat. I feel bad for her, so many things must be going on in her mind.

Stay strong, Maya

"Romeo and Juliet." My father's mouth poured out.

Oh no. Not good.

Maya sunk lower towards the ground, a bigger frown growing onto her face. She sat up. "No." She said, slamming her fist on the table.
My dad looked confused. "What is this?" He asked, pointing a finger at Maya. "Maya doesn't like Romeo and Juliet." I stated, a smile on my face as I placed a hand on Maya's shoulder.
"And why is that?" He asked, his lip lowered so that his teeth were showing. "I just don't get it! Who dies for someone, that's dumb! Who's willing to give their own life away, just to show that they love you?" Maya answers.
"Can anybody answer that?" My dad asked, a smile forming on his face. Farkle raised his hand. "Yes, Farkle." My father called.
"Humans want to prove themselves in special ways, however, the most powerful way of proving yourself, is to die for something or someone." Farkle announced. "Exactly. People are crazy when it comes to the ones they love." My father announces, just before the bell rings.
