Chapter 13: Pain Without Love

Aaron's POV

I woke up a bit later than usually since today was Saturday and I was so tired after the case. I went downstairs and when I got there I was bomb rushed by a dog that licked me all over the face. "Get off please!" I yelled to the dog. The dog got off then my mom said, "Oh good morning Aaron!" "Hey mom. Is this the dog you were talking about?" "Yep his name is Kano. Oh and I got all the money transferred to Jess  and her parents and also to Jason and Austin which leaves you with about 16,000 dollars left." "Ha wow that's actually still a lot of money." "Well it's yours to spend honey. Well I have to go to work so I'll see ya later today okay?" "Okay bye mom love ya." She left with only Kano and I being alone in the house.

"C'mon Kano. We're gonna go watch T.V.," I said as I walked to the living room to sit on the couch. About an hour later I got hungry so I decided to make some breakfast for Kano and I. I cooked up some pancakes, bacon and hash browns. When I was finished cooking I put some dog food in a bowl for Kano, washed my hands then put my food on a plate. Just as I sat down the door bell rang. I groaned then walked over to the door and when I opened it Jess was there. "Oh Aaron you're up," she said as she was blushing hard. I looked at her in confusion then looked down and realized that I still didn't have a shirt on. "Oh! Uh I'll be right back," I said as I closed the door and went to go get a shirt.

I came back and opened up the door to let Jess in. I went to go sit down at the island then Jess asked, "Oh are you cooking something?" "Yeah, but I already finished cooking. Do you want something to eat?" "Yeah that would be great thanks." I handed her the plate of food that I made then she said, "Mmm this looks good and I'm starving." I suddenly had a flashback of that day and a couple other days as if it were a compilation being played in my head.

(In the flashback)A:Aaron J:Jess

J: Mmm sounds good and I am starving

A: (Chuckles)

J: Aaron I wish you told me that sooner because.....I have feelings for you too.

A:Wait what?!

J: Ever since you saved me from Garroth I started to develop feelings for you.

A: So does that mean that we could be together?

J: Yes we can.

A: Great now I can do this (kisses Jess)

J: Aaron you did it! You actually did it!

A: No Jess we did it.

Jess finally snapped me out of my thoughts when she tapped my shoulder. "A-Aaron are you okay? You zoned out there on me for a minute and it looks like you were shed a few tears," she said as she wiped aways the tears with her thumb. When she did that I started to cry a bit more so then I said, "I'm sorry I have to go upstairs I just can't do it." "Aaron what do you mean?" "I'm sorry Jess." and with that I left to go upstairs and close myself away in my room.

(Time skip to 1:00 PM)

Jess' POV

I didn't know what was happening and why Aaron never came downstairs so I took matters into my own hands to go see what was wrong with him. I walked up the stairs and just before I could open his door I heard him.....sobbing. He just kept saying 'I miss you so much Jess' and 'I'm sorry I let this happen to you'. I waited a bit longer to see if he would do something else. He started to sing.

After he was finished I lightly knocked on the door asking, "Aaron? Can I come in?" "*Sniffle* Yes." I walked in and he was sitting in a chair still sniffling. "Aaron? What's wrong? Why are you crying? And why have you been ignoring me. From the way people talked about us it sounds like we were best friends," I said as I sat on his bed. He didn't speak a few words for awhile and that made me assume that he was mad at me for asking. I stood up then put my hand on his shoulder and could feel chills go through him. I then asked, "Please Aaron? Can you please talk to me?" He sighed motioned me to come and sit on his bed with him.

"Jess the first day you came here I made an assumption about you and it was a bad one. I was the first friend you madd here and I had feelings for you on the first day of school." "Oh wow."Yeah, so then the next day you invited me over with dinner at your house with your boyfriend, Garroth. Things went wrong and you ended up in the hospital because he pushed you into a table so then I stayed back to fight him." "......" "The next day I went to go visit you and that was when you broke up with him. You stayed at my place for a couple days and then Garroth kidnapped you the next day. I went after him then beat up him and his friends. I was going to stab him, but then you told me not to and you were crying. It was probably because of the monster that took over me. We went back to my house and you slept in my bed with me. A month later I took you out on a date that you didn't know was a date and it was all beautiful and perfect. That was when I confessed my love for you."

"Aaron..." "You felt the same way and we started dating from that point on. I kissed you and it was amazing. A couple days later Rachel kissed me and you saw and assumed I cheated on you and said that we shouldn't talk anymore. I refused to let you go like that and told you what happened. Two days later your accident happened. Here we are now....," "Oh Aaron. I'm sorry I can't remember anything." "It's okay it's not your fault." I said goodbye to Aaron then left and went home.
