We Start Our Training

The next day, we got up and started our training. Firstly, Uncle Tommy got us to practice our accuracy. We slung the quivers over our shoulders, and went to the forest where the arrow target sheets were located. I went with Lyte, Leo and Reece to the last arrow target sheet fixed in the center of the tree trunk. We lined up, and I drew my arrow, and placed it on my bow. I positioned myself, and focused on aiming it bullseye. I let go of my arrow, and what came after that was in the blink of an eye.

Before I knew what happened, the arrow landed itself right in the center of the painted arrow target sheet. My eyes widened in awe, unbelieving my eyes.

"Am I seeing things?" Reece asked.

"I think I'm dreaming." Leo said, brutally rubbing his eyes. When he opened them, he saw that the arrow was still in the center of the arrow target sheet.

"Nope I'm not dreaming," Leo mumbled. He turned to face me.

"How did you......do that?" He asked, his face clearly showing that he was amazed. I shrugged my shoulders, my eyebrows furrowed.

"I....don't know....." I said.

"Maybe it's beginner's luck." I quickly said, and the doubtful expression disappeared from my friend's faces.

"Yeah....Maybe...." Lyte said.

"Can I give it a try?" Leo asked, changing the subject.

"Sure," I gestured him to the front. This time, he did it in a different way. He stood at an angle that is impossible to aim it bullseye, drew his arrow, and let it go. The arrow swerved, made a sharp turn on the right and landed in the middle of the target sheet. My mouth gaped at the sight.

"How....?" I couldn't explain my words. It's beyond awe. Uncle Tommy strolled towards us.

"Going well?"

"Well......yes but.....one small problem." I said.

"Whenever we let go of our swords, at any angle, the arrow would always land in the center of the sheet. How is that so? Are the arrows magic?"

"Duh." Uncle Tommy said.

"Oh." I said.

"So it is better for you guys if you want to kill anybody. For those who can't aim properly." Uncle Tommy explained.

"That's.....great," Leo said.

Although a little insulting, I said in my head.

Next, we practice sword-fighting. I challenged Lyte, both of us staring at each other. I gave her the You go first look. She smirked and aimed for my arm. I blocked and cut her arm. Blood trickled from the wound. She snarled and charged at me. I dodged her kicks and slashing of her sword at me, and at the same time I tried to wound her, but I realized that she is good at defending.

At one moment, I was distracted by a fox running across the forest, and that's when Lyte took the chance to hit me. She gave me a blow on the cheek, and hit my arm with the hilt of her sword. I winced in pain, but Lyte gave me no mercy. She kicked me with the sole of her foot on my stomach, and I doubled over, groaning.

When she decided to give me another blow on my back, I raised my hands and surrendered.

"Fine, fine, you win. Stupid fox.....distracted me while fighting." I mumbled. When she turned around, I slowly and swiftly got up and crept behind her back. I was about to hit her with the hilt of my sword when she elbowed me on the ribs, hard. I cursed in Greek.
"Πανάθεμά σε!" (Panáthemá se!) (Which means, 'Damn you!' Hey, I did not mean you. I meant Lyte. :) )

She laughed, and pulled me up. I stumbled, but balanced my footing.

"You are really good at fighting, " I complemented.

"Thanks, you are not to bad yourself too," she replied.

"Please teach me some skills of yours, master," I said, bowing down. She giggled.

"Alright," she laughed.

Lyte went back to the tent to get some medication, and came back, sitting beside me on a log. She brought back two sandwiches. She handed me one.

"I saw those on the table in the tent. Maybe it was Uncle Tommy who put them there, in case we are hungry at night." She said.

"Thanks," I took the sandwich from her hand, and out hands met. She blushed, and I smirked. She glared at me, her bright brown eyes glinting under the sunlight.

"You know.....you are cute when you are angry." I chuckled, and she blushed even more. She buried her head in my chest. I laughed at her movement. I put my arm around her waist, and pulled her closer.

We rested for a while, watching our friends training. I saw Reece and Leo practicing sword fighting. I observed that they were very careful on which move to make- fighting, defending and all.

Chloe and Rebecca were the best among all. Although they are just girls, do not underestimate them. The way they fight is way more than how the boys fought. They jumped, kicked, punched and swerved to avoid getting cut by the swords. So far, I didn't see any wounds on them yet. I was beyond amazed by their skills in fighting.

"I think we would make a really good clan," I said. Lyte nodded in agreement.
