*Three weeks later*
I drove up to Northern California to buy something for Jennifer. It was her birthday in two days and I've been looking for the perfect gift for a few weeks now. It was agitating me because I wanted her to be happy with whatever I got her, I just couldn't find the right thing. I arrived at the outlets my best friend Jack told me about, looking around for any jewelry stores. Jack and I have been friends since elementary school and he's always helped me out when I needed him. Jenn has yet to meet him. I spotted Kay jewelers, sighing loudly as I strolled up to it. I felt the vibration of my phone ringing in my pocket and I grabbed my phone, realizing that Jenn was calling me. I tapped the green button on the screen before pressing the phone to my ear, "hey babygirl." "Hey babe, where are you?," I heard her question, sounded almost as if she was eating something. I stopped in place, trying to think of where I could be right now. I furrowed my eyebrows, looking down as I tried to think quickly. "Babe?" "Yeah babygirl, sorry, my friend Jack asked me something, I'm at his house right now," I tried to play it cool, but I felt nervous as I hoped I sounded convincing enough. "Oh, okay, do you want to come over afterwards?," I sighed in relief before I spoke, "yeah, I'll be over around 8, yeah?" "Okay, see you then," I could tell she was smiling through the phone. "Alright, bye babygirl," I hung up the phone before stepping through the large glass door. I saw the bunch of sparkling lights reflecting off the diamonds inside the glass cases, looking around in amazement. "Hi, how may I help you today?," I heard a small feminine voice ask as I looked to my right. I saw a black haired female, maybe around 5'4 and large blue eyes. "Hey, I'm just looking around," I assured. She nodded friendly, "okay, if you need any help, let me know." "Thank you," I smiled before walking over to the closest glass case. I stood over it, looking down at the variety of necklaces, rings and watches. My mouth hung open as I slowly walked over, making sure to eye each item carefully. I sighed in frustration as I was about to walk out when suddenly one necklace caught my eye. I didn't know what it was about this necklace, but I felt like it resembled so much about her. I guess I was staring at it for long because the same girl who came to my help earlier was at my side once again, "do you like that one?" I looked down at her name tag, identifying her as April. I nodded, "yeah," my voice trailed off as I heard her chuckle and walk behind the counter. She unlocked it and reached inside, grabbing the necklace and placing it gingerly on the top of the counter. I looked up at her, eyeing her for confirmation if I could grab it and she nodded once. I held the delicate item in my hands, half smiling as I knew she'd love this. I looked up at April and nodded, "I think I'm going to buy this one." She smiled widely, "you have one lucky girl." I felt myself blushing at the thought of Jennifer's reaction to the necklace, praying she'd like it. "I'm one lucky guy," I watched as she typed in the code number into the cash register, determining the amount of money it'll be. I know it'll be a lot, but that doesn't really matter to me, what matters is if she'd like it. She gave the price as I felt through my pocket, pulling out my wallet. I gave her the money as she placed the necklace carefully into the black velvet box. She carefully placed the box in a small plastic bag before handing it over to me. "Have a great day," she smiled widely as I grabbed the bag, "thank you so much." I smiled as I walked out, sighing in relief that I've found her something. I walked over to my car and jumped in, starting the ignition. I turned on the radio and pressed through different stations before stopping on Get Lucky by Daft Punk. I blasted the music, tapping my foot against the floor and drumming my thumbs on the steering wheel, singing along the ride back.
*Jennifer's POV *
I was turning 18 in two days and I have to be honest, it seemed weird. The fact that I'm going to be a legal adult seemed so surreal. Wes told me he was planning something big for me and I was actually kind of excited. But something that bugged me was the fact that I wasn't as excited as I felt I should be. Yeah, I'm turning 18, but what's the big deal? I didn't find anything to celebrate but Wes wanted my 18th birthday to be perfect. I was happy to have him in my life because he always knew how to make it better. He never did anything for me to second guess having him in my life and as my boyfriend. I realized I was smiling to myself before I looked over at the time. It was 7:53. I couldn't wait to see him and Keaton and Emily were in the back room where the den was. I decided not to bother them as let them be as I just stayed upstairs and waited for Wes. I say down, decided to call Chelsea for the time being. I tapped her name and watched as it began to call her. She picked up after the second ring, "hey girl." "Hey chelly, what's new?," I grabbed an apple from the counter and took a bite. "Nothing, just got home from work, do you remember that guy who came in a few weeks ago? That really hot guy?," she exclaimed as I narrowed my eyes, trying as hard as possible to remember. "No?," I continued to think before she answered the question for me, "well, his name is Bryan and he came by tonight and asked me out! He's so sweet." Oh, Bryan! I forgot about him. "Oh yeah, he was all over you," I winked, forgetting she couldn't see me. She giggled through the phone, "we're going out tomorrow night. He's picking me up." I hope he treats her right, she deserves a man who treats her well, despite all her previous relationships. She's had her heart broken several times, I don't want her to experience any more. "Awe, that's sweet. Do you know where he's taking you?," I took another bite, checking the time behind me. "No, he told me it's a surprise," I could tell she was smiling through the phone. I laughed silently to myself as I looked out the window, seeing Wes pull up. "Well I'm happy for you chelly. I gotta go, Wes just pulled up, I'll call you later," I slid off the counter chair as she answered, "alright, bye hun." I locked my phone, tucking it into my back pocket. I watched through the window as Wes walked up to the front door, seeing me through the window. I crossed my eyes as my tongue slipped past my lips before I giggled slightly. I watched as he returned the same face back before lowering his head and giving me a creepy look. I threw my head back in laughter as I opened the door and he planted a quick kiss to my lips, "hey babygirl." Just then it crossed my mind that he's never really mentioned Jack before other than tonight, "hey babe. So, how come you've never mentioned Jack to me?" He paused as he kicked off his shoes, slowly moving his vision to look at me, "jack? He's an old friend who I haven't talked to in years. He texted me today and asked me to come by, why?," his voice cracked as I became slightly paranoid. His nerves took over and I can't lie, it made me suspicious. I narrowed my eyes at him as he mocked me, narrowing his eyes. I didn't realize how much I missed him doing that after he did it for the first time in a few months. I laughed before nodding slowly, "okay." I trusted him, I didn't want to believe he was doing anything wrong. But why was I jumping to conclusions so quick? I guess my self-consciousness took over. I didn't realize I was lost in thought before Wes waved his hand in my face, "Jenn?" I looked up at him as he laughed, pecking my nose, "you're adorable." He walked into my living room, sitting in his normal spot before patting his lap, "come here." My lips curled into a smile as he stared at me from over his shoulder. I decided to play around a little. I crossed my arms and shifted my weight to my right leg, smirking at him, "come get me." His smile turned into a smirk as well as he slowly stood up. He stood there facing me before throwing his hands up, "you're really gonna make me do this?" I nodded once, "I'm waiting." He took one step as I continued to stand there. I playfully took a deep breath, implying that I was getting bored of standing there. Just then he jolted towards me as I screamed, sprinting towards the island in my kitchen. I ran around it, laughing in the process. I saw the opportunity to run upstairs as I stepped once, looking at Wes. He was gripping the counter top, biting his lower lip, looking for a way to catch me. I felt the adrenaline pumping through me as I ran past him, making my way up the stairs. I heard his footsteps traveling up the stairs, closely behind me. I ran into my room, slamming the door shut behind me. I pressed my back to the door, listening as I couldn't hear anything. I waited a few seconds before furrowing my eyebrows. My chest rose and fell quickly as I slowly removed my back from the door, going on my hands and knees. I looked under the door to see any shadows but I saw nothing. I stood up and gripped the doorknob, slowly turning it. I peeked through the crack before opening the door even more. Just then, Wes popped out from the side of the door, causing me to scream in laughter. He grabbed my hips, pulling me close and we both laughed loudly. He walked us over to my bed, pushing me down on it as he hovered over me. Just then all the laughing quieted down, as we stared at each other. I placed my hand on his cheek, brushing my thumb along his cheekbone as I bit my bottom lip. He leaned down, pressing his lips to mine with so much passion, bliss taking over my entire body. Every kiss we shared seemed to gain passion and love with every time, and this one overpowered all our previous kisses by a lot. He held the kiss, lowering his body slowly, before pulling away. I stared at him once again, my hand making it's way to the back of his head. I pulled him back down, wanting more. The kiss quickly escalated as he grinded his hips against mine, causing a moan to emit from the back of my throat. My soles of my bare feet dug into the back of his thighs, pulling him impossibly closer. My hands cascaded down his exposed arms as I felt tiny bumps forming on his skin. He shifted his weight onto his left elbow, breaking the kiss but trailing wet kisses down my jawline. His right hand slithered between us, snaking underneath my tank top. He gripped the bare skin of my hips before sliding up my shirt, moving his lips down to my neck. His fingertips softly glided against the skin above my rib cage, moving his lips down to my chest, kissing any exposed skin. Suddenly, the sound of someone clearing their throat sounded from the hallway as Wes moved off of me and we both looked where the sound came from. Keaton stood there with his arms crossed, looking back and forth between Wes and I. He simply smiled before walking towards the bathroom, which was most likely his main priority. I then heard Wes begin to laugh hysterically and I looked over at him, a smile quickly forming on my face. "Sh," I pushed his chest affectionately, feeling my cheeks flush red as embarrassment took over. "It's okay babygirl," Wes managed to speak through laughs, grabbing my wrist with one hand and holding out the other. He pulled me into his chest and I laughed embarrassingly into it as he rubbed my back comfortingly. He kissed the top of my head before whispering, "it's okay, I'd rather not have done it tonight anyway. I want our first time to be perfect." I smiled into his chest before slowly nodding, "me too."
