Everyday happened exactly the same as it did on Monday. Wes would try to talk to me and I'd ignore him. I just wasn't in the mood to hear anymore of his lies. It was Friday and my dad was leaving for New York tomorrow night. My sister was going with him, but I was still indecisive whether or not I wanted to go. I'd be missing a whole week of school...a whole week away from Wes trying to talk to me...a week away from the reminder of what happened.
I got home and sat on the couch, thankful that the long week was ever. It felt as if it lasted forever, so being home felt perfect. I went upstairs and knocked on the guest door. I heard my dad from the inside, "come in!" I slowly opened the door, giving him a small smile. "What's up?," he lowered his book he was reading as I stood by the door awkwardly. "Uhm, I think I want to go with you to New York," I said quietly as I looked up at my dad from my hands. He smiled at me and nodded a little, "okay, we're leaving early tomorrow morning, so be up around 5 AM." I nodded, taking in the information before responding, "okay." I was about to walk out when my dad called my name. I turned around and faced him, "yeah?" There was a moment of silence before he answered me, "everything will eventually turn out the way you want it. You may think everything's turned to shit right now, but I promise you, in the end, it'll be exactly how you planned it to be." My lips slowly curved into a smile, tears beginning to build up in my eyes. I walked over to my dad and gave him a long hug, "thanks dad." He went back to his book as I walked back into my room. I was finally going back to New York.
I woke up many times during the night, not being able to get a solid sleep. I ended up waking up and staying up around 3:30, grabbing my phone. I opened up my photo gallery, looking through old pictures of Wes and I; all the funny faces we made, all of the weird pictures we took together, bringing back all the memories. My nose burned as tears formed in my eyes, rolling down my cheek, slower than usual. I came across a funny picture of Wes that I took when he wasn't ready and I laughed a little, remembering exactly how everything happened, as if it only happened the day before. I pressed the home button and went into my messages, going to mine and Wes' messages together. I pressed the light grey bar at the bottom, wanting to send him a message, but I didn't have the strength to do it. I would feel awkward texting him, meanwhile the whole week I've been ignoring him and avoiding him. I just locked my phone and threw it on the opposite side of the bed, just letting the tears fall onto my pillow, leaving little circular spots on it.
It was exactly 5 am, and I've spent the last two hours just staring at nothing. I decided to take a quick shower, not even bothering with makeup or fixing my hair. I threw it up in a bun, putting on light blue jeans. It'd be slightly cooler in New York so I just wanted to wear something to fit the weather. I searched through my closet for a top, coming across Wesley's black sweater he gave me to wear on the Fourth of July. I stopped skimming through, and grabbed it, slowly examining it. I held it against my bare chest, only covered with a bra, and just hugged it. Wesley's scent still lingered from it as I suddenly began to miss him. No, you can't do this Jenn, he hurt you. I put his sweater back on the hanger and hung it up way in the back. I grabbed a thin, white pullover sweater, matching it with a pair of white vans. I packed my clothes last night so I was technically already ready to leave and it was only 5:48. I grabbed my charger and my suitcase, bringing everything downstairs. I sat on the couch and took a deep breath, closing my eyes as I waited, but I ended up slowly falling into a light sleep.
