* Later that day; 6:00pm *
I threw my head back in laughter at his childish expression at the little boy who took the last amount of cotton candy. He took me to Adventure City, an amusement park I've been dying to go to for the past year. I kissed Wes' cheek before saying, "don't worry about it." He turned towards me as he chuckled, leaning in to kiss me. We kissed for a quick second before I looked around at the rides and pointed at the last ride in the park. It seemed as if it was the biggest roller coaster in the entire park and I was super excited to go on. "You ready?," Wes asked excitedly, gripping my hands in his. I nodded quickly as we both rushed over to the line. We were pretty close to the front because the a new group of people just got on. I looked back towards the rest of the people, watching as the line quickly filled up. I instinctively fixed my hair and turned towards Wes, "does my hair look okay?" He laughed and picked up a strand, "yes." He began twirling it in his fingers, looking around, especially at the younger kids. A small smile peeked through his expression and I couldn't help but stare as he just watched them in awe. "I love little children," he said casually as I turned to look at them. "They give off such a joyful vibe; I wish I was that age again," he laughed as I smiled, remembering all my happy times before all the bad ones happened. I faced him, "me too." His vision finally fell on mine as he smiled wider, placing a small kiss to my lips. Just then, the ride slowed down before coming a complete stop and we watched all the passengers jumped off and down the walkway. I looked over at the security guard as he removed the chain, allowing a new group onto the ride, including Wes and I. We both exchanged looks, thinking the same thing. We rushed to the front as we were excited to be the first people in the cart. I always felt nervous just before any big roller coaster, but always had a rush of adrenaline right after. We sat down as Wes giggled, looking around. His eyes landed on mine as he smiled widely, "are you excited?" I replied with a quick nod as the harness fell over our shoulders. I lightly smacked his forearm nervously, a wide smile clear upon my face. My hand glided down his arm and gripped his hand tightly, entwining our fingers. Just then, the cart slowly moved forward and my heart jumped. I took a deep breath, feeling my chest rise and fall quickly as the cart slowly moved up the track. "Oh shit oh shit oh shit," I chanted lowly but just enough for Wes to hear, as he tightened his grip on my hands as he did on every other ride before this one. We reached the very top and my heart fell as I saw how low the drop was. I squeezed Wesley's hand impossibly tighter, turning my knuckles white. Suddenly, the cart starting flying down the track as I joined the many screams behind me, including Wes'. The wind whipped my hair all around, strands flying across my face as the cart flew around the loop. My heart was racing but I felt safe knowing he was right beside me.
"I had so much fun," I giggled, leaning into Wesley's shoulder. "I'm glad you did," he chuckled, looking down at me. He leaned down, kissing my forehead. "But the best part hasn't even happened yet," he smirked, peeking over at me from the corners of his eyes. "Oh, yeah! What is it?," I asked, pulling his hand. "You'll see very soon," he nodded, assuring me he was being truthful. I groaned, throwing my head back, "fine." We neared his car as he opened the passenger door for me. I sat down, smiling up at him as he gently slammed the door closed. He jogged around the front, letting himself inside and started the engine. He turned his body around, looking behind him as he pulled out of the spot. I pressed different stations, looking for a song to listen to. I pressed one, leaving it because there was nothing good on. We were on the road and just as I opened my mouth to say something, The Other Side by Jason Derulo began playing. My mouth formed an O as I shook Wesley's arm lightly. This was our favorite song on the radio at the moment and Wes instantly raised the volume. Just as the pre chorus began, I got lost in the music, dancing shamelessly in my seat,
"Tonight we'll just get drunk
Disturb the peace
Bind your hands all over me
And then you bite your lip
Whisper and say, "We're going all the way."
Tonight
Take me to the other side
Sparks fly like the Fourth of July
Just take me to the other side
I see that sexy look in your eyes
And I know we ain't friends anymore
If we walk down this road
We'll be lovers for sure
So tonight kiss me like it's do or die
And take me to the other side"
I looked over at Wes, seeing him look over at me repeatedly, a small smile hidden in his lips. His thumbs were instinctively pressing against the steering wheel, going along with the song. Now I was looking at Wes as I sang loudly, singing to him. He began laughing and we pulled up to his house right then. The song wasn't over and we stayed in the car, dancing together to the rest of the song. I grabbed his hand with my own, throwing our hands in the air as the song played on. Just as the song finished, I lowered the radio, taking a deep breath. Wes chuckled lightly, turning off the car. He jumped out as I grabbed my phone, fixing my hair. He opened the passenger door, holding out his hand as I gripped it tightly, stepping onto the ground. "So, when am I getting my big surprise?," I asked, so anxious about it. All he did was wink at me, the same cocky smirk upon his lips as before. He held my hand as we walked up his pathway, and he was suddenly really quiet. He didn't say a word. We approached his front door as he fumbled with his keys, pushing the key into the lock. He unlocked the door and when I stepped in, I noticed how dark it was. He felt the wall for the light switch and when the light turned on, the sight in front of me was overwhelming, "SURPRISE!"
