*Chinks' POV*
"Ma?" I asked a little shocked. We haven't talked since I moved out here. She didn't really approve of the lifestyle I lived and the decisions I made.
"Yes. Woo, I need you to meet me now. I-it's an emergency," my mama struggled in her thick Korean accent. I could hear a baby crying in the background. Must've been my brother.
"Yeah, okay," I told her. I told her a place we could meet in 20 minutes. I didn't know what to think. What was I gone say? I was nervous as fuck. I love my mama with all my heart. Hell, I'm a Mama's boy. We just didn't see eye to eye all the time. I wanted to follow in my pop's footsteps and she wasn't having it. So I left. Money wasn't an issue so I could support myself and a million other people. Shit, I got racks. Anyway, she refused to let me do it. Since I left, I always go to the restaurant. She ain't ever there seeing that she got like a hundred other ones. I just like to go because it reminds me of her. Don't get me wrong, I ain't one of them soft niggas, but I do love my mama. I'm just wondering what she wanna talk about.
20 minutes later, I pulled to a little park. It was around 4 in the morning. What does my mama want to do at 4 am? A black Range Rover snapped me out of my thoughts. My manna got out and walked over to me. She was about 5'0 even with long straight brown hair. She had on a black jumpsuit with the hoodie over her head and black Ray Bans. Looked like she was hiding from someone. Why is she hiding?
"Hello, Son," she said as she looked up at me. She took off her sunglasses and looked around.
"Hey, Ma. What's going on?" I asked after I crouched down and have her a hug.
"Woo, you're father and I need a favor," she said in Korean. Her English wasn't all that hot so we spoke in Korean most of the time.
"What happened?" I replied back in Korean.
"Your father got us into some shit and we need to go away for a while to fix it. It's just that it's not a very safe task," she said. I waited for the rest. "That's why we need you to keep Yoo for a while until we settle this thing," she finished. I didn't know what to say. I can't take care of no baby. I mean, I know that's my brother but he's a baby. How am I gonna take care of a 6 month old?
"Mama I-" I tried to explain but she cut me of with her voice, now cracking.
"Woo, please. Look, I'm sorry for not understanding that you are now a man. I just didn't want you to get hurt. This isn't a game. This is a dangerous business," she cried. I nodded my head. I loved my family and would do anything to protect them.
"Okay. I'll do it," I said taking her small body into a hug. She held onto me for a long time until she finally let go. "Where is he?" I asked.
"In the truck sleeping. Come on," she said. She walked to the Rover and opened the backseat door. My brother was in his car seat knocked out. I missed him so much. She grabbed a couple of bags and handed them to me then unbuckled Yoo's car seat. We walked over to my car and she buckled him in while I put his bags in the trunk.
"I didn't have time to make him any bottles or anything. I also didn't get to pack everything because everything happened too fast so you might have to buy him a stroller and crib and stuff," she said handing me a bag. I opened it and there were stacks of money inside. I shook my head and handed it back to her.
"No. I'll take care of it," I said. She shook her head and tried to give it back but I refused. She finally gave up.
"I can't call you and you can't call me. It isn't safe for either one of us," she said. I nodded and hugged her. She started crying and I held her tighter.
"Ma, don't cry. I'll take care of him," I said. She looked up at me and put her hands on my face.
"I know you will. I love you," she said before she pulled my face down and kissed me on my forehead.
"I love you too, Ma," I said. And with that, we went our sperate ways.
When I got home, I laid Yoo in the bed next to me. He squirmed at first but then calmed down.
I laid down next to him and just stared at him. He looked just like me. I was not prepared for this. I'm 19 with a 6 month old alone. What the fuck am I gonna do? I just know that I'm gonna need some help. And there's only one person I trust enough to help me out.
