"I never meant for it to go that far" Ari said guiltily. "Did it make you feel good?" She nodded. "It sure as hell made me feel good. Please don't apologize. If anything it proves that I'm feeling better." She flashed her smile at him making him smile. They dried off and Ari replaced the wet bandage. "Wow this thing really did the job well. Your stitches aren't wet at all" she said impressed. She put a fresh clean one on and Luca got dressed, they grabbed the rolling cart and headed to the elevator. Once the door opened Ari pulled the cart out and then Luca stepped out next. The sight that met his eyes! How beautiful his home looked! Ari proud of what she had done took him and showed off each place that she had worked on yesterday. "Wow" he breathed "I can't even begin to imagine what you can do with this place at Christmas!" She really had done a great job. They walked into the kitchen and Ari got to work. Luca asked her what she was doing. "Well I'm making you my famous and therapeutic hot cocoa" she said with a smile. "Since it's so late do you want something light?" she asked. He said not really and just wanted the hot chocolate. She found two good size mugs and the mini marshmallows. Luca looked puzzled. "What do you do with these?" he asked holding up the bag. What? Had he never put marshmallows in his cocoa? "Lots of people put them in there chocolate, it adds to the flavor and texture. Are you game?" "Sure!" he said. She poured two mugs of hot, steaming, creamy chocolaty goodness and added the marshmallows. They clinked their mugs and took a sip. Oh my, that was so good. "Well what do you think?" she asked. He told her that next to her, it was the best thing he had ever put in his mouth. She blushed beet red but enjoyed the double meaning to his words.
They continued to have a wonderful conversation about Thanksgiving, the food, their guests and Ari wanted him to come take a closer look at the table. "Do you feel up to walking into the other room? I want you to see what I did with that wonderful old table." She was so excited when he said yes. They walked hand-in-hand across the room and down a few steps into the living room where that table had been set up. Luca stopped short and gazed at the fireplace, the windows, the tables and then the great table she was so excited to show him. "Honey it's perfect! You have such a talent. Have you ever thought of doing this for a living?" Pride shone in his voice. She explained how she had just taken into account what the house looked like on the inside and tried to make that come through in the decor. "I wanted to ask you about seating arrangements. I found these beautiful place cards and I can put the names of our guests on those and put them on top of each plate. I think we should definitely start here" she said at the head of the table. This end faced the kitchen and the rest of the room. "You should definitely sit here" she said. He thought for a moment. "Then I would want you to my left, my parents to my right, your parents next to you, Paulo and his date, Lu and his wife and Fabio. If it makes you happy go ahead and do place cards" his answer made her squeal and she hugged him. He winced a bit. "Oh baby I'm so sorry! Here let me see!" she pulled up his shirt but there was no sign of blood. "I'm okay Ari. Really. Just a little sore is all" he reassured her. "Come on let's get you back upstairs and to bed" Ari said. Just then Luca's phone rang. It was Roberto from the gate. Dr. Banks was here to check on his patient. "Okay tell Z to escort him up to the house." "Dr. Banks. He wants to check in on me." This was good, Ari thought, I can meet the good doctor. About two minutes later there was a knock at the door. Dr. Banks was about 5'10", young and very good looking. He greeted Luca and I with a smile and shook Luca's hand first and then mine. "Well let's see what we've got here" said the good doctor in a stunning British accent. He carefully removed the bandage that I had applied. "Hmmm, this looks excellent! Who took care of this for you Mr. Constanti?" I did a cute little wave and said "that would be me Dr. Banks." "Excellent job miss. Have you ever had medical training?" "No, I just used what I thought was common sense and followed your instructions to the letter." Ari said. "Well jolly good! At this rate I can remove the stitches day after tomorrow or at your earliest convenience." he said speaking to Luca now. "We defer to your judgement doc" Luca answered. "Brilliant! Day after tomorrow then. Should I set an appointment or give you a call?" he asked. Ari leaned over and whispered something to Luca. "Dr. Banks my girlfriend and I would like to invite you to Thanksgiving dinner here. If you don't already have plans." Banks thought for a moment and smiled. "I say I wasn't sure what I was going to do as my plans have fallen through today. I accept with gratitude and humility. Do I need to bring anything?" Ari replied "just yourself and an appetite and be here at 6:30 for drinks!" The doctor said thank you again and let himself out the door. Ari looked at Luca "are you okay with me doing that?" she asked somewhat worried. He put his hands on her shoulders and kissed her deeply. "Honey the day you stop caring about people is the day I know something is wrong. I'm perfectly fine with it after all he did take care of me and what a small price to pay for his loyalty as well. Now, you said earlier you wanted to get me into bed..." Oh good grief! He was definitely on the road to recovery. She laughed and they walked holding each others hands up the stairs.
