“We have to talk.”
Silence and the cold was all I was capable of hearing and feeling once he uttered those few little words. The gaze he held on me burned knowing that whatever he is going to say was going to end up bad just like the feeling in my stomach. He pulled away and slowly walked over to the lounge flicking on the TV to show the news. Lights where flickering everywhere on the news as a whole scene played out making me gasp at what was shown on the TV. Smoke escaped out the crème colored building as firefighters rushed in and out carrying people to safety whilst a fire burned in the one area she was held. Once I finished staring at the ruins of the building I watched as the reporter talked about what happened.
“Here today at Middlemore hospital there was an attack which has left dozen killed and many more injured from this fatal attack. Here is a list of the people declared dead” The reporter faded away and a bunch of names came up showing who had died making my heart skipped a beat waiting to see if her name was there.
I froze watching the TV as ‘Cassandra Mortis’ appeared on the screen whilst I started to hyperventilate knowing what happened and how I ended up in hospital. Mum is dead was all that I could think of before I sank to the ground wrapping my arm around myself knowing she was dead. Staring at the TV I watched it blur as my tears came rolling down before I felt Jace’s arms wrap around me as he pulled me on to his lap whilst I cried into his chest.
“Del. I’m sorry.” Jace whispered as he stroke my hair trying to calm me down from the knowledge that she died. Thinking back to the dream I now realized who that woman was who hugged me, who’s hand intertwined with dad’s and who’s eyes were the same colour as mine, violet. Once I realized who it was I pulled my head away from his chest and looked up at him and told him what happened, from the fall to the dream to the woman and dad. My mind buzzed at what happened and that I was blown off because of the bomb and that my dream showed me a looked at my mum just after she died leaving us for dad.
“I think I was given a second chance at life.” I whispered whilst I watched as he pulled me closer just as I realized something which Jace could only tell me.
“Jace where is Bell and Liam?” Something flickered in his eyes before he looked down at me with his hair falling into his eyes making me brush it away before I left my hand on his cheek to stare into his forest green eyes.
“Bell. Well she’s at Nico’s house for now.” I stared at him in confusion wondering why she was stay at Nico’s house and not here with Liam and me, but in my gut I knew there was a reason. Jace pushed a bit of my long brown hair behind my ear before he continued.
“And Liam…” Waiting for his answer I felt him shift probably nervous of something or what he was going to say.
“He is in the hospital and has been there for 3 days and is still there.” I gasped before I clapped my hand to my mouth to stifle a sob that was coming out from my broken body and soul.
“What happened to him?” I whispered in between my sobs hoping that it wasn’t too bad. When I looked into Jace’s eyes I knew that it was serious even before he told me.
“He was sad and furious at what happened at the hospital and what happened to you, so he went out to a bar to drink and got drunk before that he went out and cause some trouble with a group of guys.” He took a breath before he continued to tell the story of what happened which already made me feel worst.
“After he was drunk the group of guys he pissed off came and bet him up, but he tried to fight back which ended up with him getting beaten up even more.” I sobbed as and image of what happened popped into my mind at the site of him getting punch and kicked everywhere with blood seeping through his clothes from the ruthless group. More tears leaked out at what I was hearing before I found myself staring at the ground with thoughts of what happened playing in my mind.
