KABANATA 13:

WAVERLY ROSE'S POV:

When I open the balcony door to go back inside the suite, Ace is standing there.

"Who was that on the phone?" Tanong ni Ace.

"My mom." I look right into his eyes while lying to him. Binigyan ko siya nang halik sa pisngi bago nilagpasan siya.

"Maliligo muna ako, will you order us some room service?" Pakiusap ko sa kanya.

"Sure babe." He answers from behind me.

While in the shower, a sense of panic falls over me. This is it. Hindi ko na makikita pa si Ace. A part of me wishes that I'd never taken this job and a part of me is grateful for it.

This situation is so messed up. Pero kailangang matapos ang mission na ito. John Evans is a monster and it's my job to rid the world of him.

I just wish there was a way to do this job and keep Ace at the same time. I love him so much. Nagiging mas mahalaga siya sa akin kaysa sa anumang bagay sa mundo.

Now I can see why David always taught, Drew and I, not to fall in love. Sinabi niya na ang pag-ibig ay isang kahinaan, na ang nasa aming propesyon ay hindi kayang sumugal.

Siguro meron pang paraan upang manatili ako kay Ace. Yaong sa aking propesyon ay hindi maaaring sumugal sa pag-ibig, ngunit kung wala ako sa propesyon na ito, marahil maaari pa.

Do I want to give up this life for Ace? Is he worth it? Yes. Absolutely and completely.

I step out of the shower and dry myself off with an energized feeling. Ang kailangan ko lang gawin ay ang tapusin ang trabahong ito, pagkatapos baka pwede ko nang sabihin kay David nahihinto na ako sa pagiging assassin, upang maging malaya ko nang makasama si Ace.

I quickly dress in a skirt and tank top. Nakita kong nakaupo si Ace sa couch, flipping through the channels. I jump on top of him, "Got you!"

He laughs, then gets a serious expression on his face and brings his forehead against mine.

"From the first moment I saw you." I wrap my arms around his neck.

"I love you, Ace."

Nagsisimula siya sa paghalik sakin, pero kaliangan kong bumangon dahil may kumakatok sa pinto. I answer it, expecting room service, but Drew is standing there.

"Ano ang ginagawa mo dito?" I turn my head back and see Ace flipping through channels again, oblivious to Drew's presence.

"Tumawag si David." Wika ni Drew. Napagbuntong-hininga na lang ako.

"Tinawagan niya rin ako. I'm doing it tonight." Mukhang nagulat naman si Drew.

"Really?"

"Yes." I whisper harshly. Drew's lack of confidence in me is annoying. Drew grins, then turns around to walk away.

"Drew?" He turns back around.

"Yeah?" I feel butterflies in my stomach as I tell him.

"This is my last job."

Mabilis kong isinara ang pinto bago siya maka-react. I lean back against it and Ace looks at me quizzically.

"It was just someone asking directions to the ice machine." Bumulung-bulong lang si Ace.

"Why didn't they call the front desk?"

There is another knock on the door and I pray that it isn't Drew again. I'm relieved when I open the door and room service is here. I even give the guy a big tip.
