~Chapter Twenty-Two~
Winter clapped her hands together creating a loud, vibrating sound, to catch the attention of the group of five. Aexstra let out a low whistle as he took in their new leader. Her hair was pulled up into a tight ponytail with thin metal strips weaved throughout the black strands, metals spikes glinting in the faint sunlight. She wore high waisted black pants that ended just below her bellybutton and a tight red shirt that ended in the middle of her rib cage leaving her Ookami tattoo in full view.
"Today is evalution day. I will be testing each of you individually to find your strengths and your weaknesses. Just because you may not believe you have a weakness..." She glanced at the cocky smirk plastered on to Aexstra's face, "Doesn't mean you don't have one. Everyone has a weakness, myself included."
Surprise was shown in varying degrees on the trainees faces, powerful people don't usually admit to having weaknesses.
She rotated her neck from side to side, a cracking sound emitting from the action making Eien wrinkle his nose from disgust. Winter looked over them cooly, "Well? Is someone going to attack me or are you all just going to keep on standing there and make me chose who I want to fight first?"
"Wait, we're supposed to fight you?" Eien squeaks out, looking positively terrified. This only served to make Winter look amused. "Yes. One at a time so I can see your personal skills than all at once to see how well you work together as a team." Eien gulps, his pale skin losing any amount of color that it had. Without any amount of hesitation whatsoever the cockiest member of the group dashed forward aiming a well placed punch at Winter.
Sadly for Aexstra, Winter isn't taken down very easily.
Millimeters before the punch hit her temple, she ducked in one smooth motion, ending up on the other side of the teal haired man. Her pinkie and ring finger were curled against her palms, her middle finger extended straight out with her index finger tilted up slightly, her thumb aligned with her index finger. Both of her hands were made into this strange formation and she moved as a black and red blur, dashing around Aexstra and jabbing certain pressure points on his arms.
It took a mere minute for Aexstra to be defeated.
Winter stood off to the side as Aexstra slumped to the ground, his eyes wide with disbelief. He wasn't weak at all and yet she managed to overpower him, especially in Taijutsu which was his speciality.
Little did he know that Taijutsu was also Winter's specialty.
Sairen was next, but she had a completely different approach. Unlike her peers she solely relied on one thing to fight... her voice. She walked forward slowly and opened her mouth, the scales on her body shimmering brightly. And then, she screamed. The sound immediately pierced the air, shattered particles and rearranging molecules. The effect is quick to take a hold. A dizzying sensation overcame anyone Sairen wished combined with the throbbing headache that suddenly appeared was more than enough to render even the strongest shinobi unfit for battle.
Winter felt the spell tugging at the edges of her mind, felt her body wish to cave to the horrible pain. But there was a reason Winter was able to survive in the Coliseum... she had the unique ability to separate her mind from her body allowing her to endure extreme amounts of torture. Sairen's kekkei genkai was no exception.
A flash of red, a touch of black and a dash of silver was all Sairen was able to see before she found herself on the ground, the tip of Ryku pressed lightly against her throat. After a brief moment she sheathed the black katana and nodded her head. "If I didn't know the techniques I did, you would've bested me."
Sairen gets up shakily and goes back into line, rubbing her shoulder whilst glancing at Winter with a look laced with approval.
When no one else took a step forward to issue a challenge, Winter looked over the remaining three. Eien looked ready to faint making her eyes narrow ever so slightly. Next was the brother and sister, a lethal duo in battle, a yin and yang pair if you will. Kuki's strength was Kishi's weakness, and vice versa. They were like the two man team version of Team Arashi...
