Feeling my sickness continuing, I decided to stay home the next day. I mean, that was one of the reasons why.

I was so embarrassed that I had ruined the chance I had to kiss Justin. After what happened yesterday, he stayed for a few more minutes, then said he had to leave.

I don't know why it bothered me so much, but I felt my heart drop when he left. I just pulled the covers over my head, making a cocoon around myself and sleeping for the remainder of the day.

Wanting to get some fresh air for a bit, I left my apartment and walked toward the plaza downtown. I felt my stomach growl as I walked, so I entered the nearest restaurant I could find.

It was a cozy place, the lights dimmed and the air smelling like freshly baked bread. Besides the group of people that chattered endlessly, it was pretty quiet. It was the perfect place for me to sit and relax.

Taking a seat near the window, I looked out at the busy shops and people rushing in and out of them. My attention was broken when someone cleared their throat beside me.

"Hey, welcome to Phoebe's. What can I start you off with?" The young waiter spoke, his green eyes glowing with happiness.

"I'm just gonna have some green tea and a blueberry muffin. Thanks," I smiled, seeing him write my order down.

"Great. It'll just take a minute."

As he left to bring me my food, I let my eyes wander around the room, taking in my surroundings. My eyes widened when I noticed that Justin sat at the table in the far end of the restaurant. He was at the head of the table, and his many friends crowded around him in the other seats. He was in the midst of telling a joke, because by the looks of it, everyone was on the verge of laughter. I tried not to stare for too long, but it was mesmerizing to see his eyes crinkle up as he chuckled so wholeheartedly.

Waiter boy returned with my muffin and tea, sliding it onto the table. I thanked him, watching his contagious smile appear on his face once more.

As I sipped on my tea, I took quick, frequent glances at Justin's table. A girl from the other side of his table had wandered over to him, sitting sideways on his lap. He buried his face into her neck, the girl instantly bursting out into a fit of laughter.

I looked back at my plate, my appetite being long gone. My stomach turned with disappointment and jealousy, my hands becoming too shaky to pick up the cup of tea before me.

It pained me to see him with another girl, but I found myself turning my face to see him again. What hurt the most to me was thinking that I even mattered to him when clearly, I didn't even cross his mind.

I felt nauseous when I saw that he had attached his lips to her neck before pulling away and bringing her body closer to his. His other friends cooed and pulled their phones out to snap pictures of them.

I didn't realize I had been staring for so long until I sipped my tea only to realize that it had gone cold. I picked at the muffin, only able to stomach a few pieces.

Deciding that it would be smart to leave, I left the table and went to the register to pay for my food. Handing my money to the cashier, I heard constant giggles from behind me.

Please don't be who I think it is.

Turning my head back, my eyes met with Justin's. He raised his eyebrows, releasing the grip he had on the girl's waist.

"Jas," He said breathlessly, almost as if he was surprised that I would be here. What, I'm not supposed to have a life and leave my apartment at all?

"Hey," I replied bitterly, grabbing my change from the cashier. Moving off to the side, I tried to stuff my money in my wallet as quickly as I could.

Justin gave the money in his hand to the girl, stepping to the side so that he stood beside me. I felt his eyes follow my every move. Before I could walk away, he grabbed my arm and held me back.

"What do you want?" I groaned, pushing his hand away.

"You're not gonna stick around any longer? My friends and I are gonna hang out downtown. You wanna come?"

I laughed and adjusted the strap of my bag on my shoulder.

"I'm about to head home. Going out while being sick was a mistake," I retaliated, watching him frown slightly.

"Look, just stay for a bit. It'll be-"

I cut him off with a finger to his lip, instantly putting a stop to his constant pleading.

"I just said I'm heading home. Go have fun with your friends."

His frown became more prominent as I began to walk away from him. I felt a lump form in my throat as I walked out of the restaurant, wrapping my scarf tightly around my neck.

I didn't want to cry, but with the tears that were already forming and the wind that was constantly blowing in my face, I felt the first drops roll down my cheeks.

I walked as fast as my legs could take me, finding relief as I saw that I neared my apartment. I went upstairs and locked the door immediately, rushing to my room and lying face down on the bed.

Feeling my eyelids faltering, I shut them and hoped that a nap would improve my mood.

When I woke up from my nap, reality hit me and I felt even worse than I did before. It was late at night, seeing as though the moonlight shined through the windows.

Groaning, I pulled my phone out of my purse to check the time. It was seven-thirty. I furrowed my eyebrows when I saw that I had a message notification.
