Furrowing my eyebrows, my thumbs hovered over the keyboard as I thought of a response. To: Justin
No. I don't know where that is and I'm not comingIn the matter of a few seconds, his response came to my dismay.
(1 New Message) Justin:
don't worry, I'll pick u up :) I got uRolling my eyes, I realized that he wouldn't take no for an answer. Whether I declined or not, he would be parked outside my apartment in no time.
I sighed and dressed myself in warmer clothes, figuring that Justin would keep us out late, and it was already cold to begin with.
The honking of his horn downstairs snapped me out of my thoughts and brought me to the realization that I had actually fallen into his traps again. I tried my hardest not to let him get too close, but every time he tried, I would let him in.
My nostrils were greeted by the scent of leather and musky cologne, and I hummed as I took a seat beside him. The heater was on high, making me shift comfortably in place.
"Hey," He said smoothly, looking over at me with a small smile. I nodded my head in recognition, making his smile falter into an indiscreet frown.
"Let's just get this over with. Why are you taking me to the park?"
He sighed and ran his hand over his face, leaning his forehead against the wheel. I picked on the torn ends of my sweater as I awaited his answer.
"I need to talk to you. Preferably somewhere quiet. Brand Park is always quiet," He said sternly, straightening himself up and beginning to drive.
I bit my lip to keep myself quiet, staring blankly out the window. Clearing his throat, I heard the engine turn off and the sound of his door clicking open. I took a deep breath and followed slowly behind Justin.
Brand Park was just as he had explained; serene and picturesque. There were large oak trees towering over the acres of grass, and a small lake glistened as the moon shone brightly upon it. The clearing in the trees portrayed the twinkling stars so beautifully, easing my nerves a bit. Benches were placed aimlessly across the park, and we sat at the one overlooking the shimmering lake.
"Why were you mad at me earlier?" He spoke first, picking up a rock from the ground and brushing it off. As he awaited my response, he threw the rock into the lake where it skipped a few times before sinking.
I sighed and heard the trees rustle in the wind. I let out an inaudible cough prior to answering his question.
"I shouldn't have to explain that to you," I laughed, leaning down to pick up a rock.
"I honestly don't understand what I did wrong, Jas. Just tell me so I can fix it."
Raising my eyebrows in disbelief, I glared at him before chucking the rock carelessly into the lake.
"Why do you always lead me on if you're not interested in me? It's so damn irritating," I complained, seeing his body tense from the corner of my eye. He remained silent, kicking the dirt with his feet.
"I'm not doing it intentionally," Justin sighed, staring at me as I kept my gaze on the lake.
"Well, it sure as hell seems like it. If you're interested in someone, you let them know. You don't flirt with them and then forget they exist the minute another person comes by. That's not how it works."
"Flirting is harmless. I don't believe in commitment, so I can do whatever I want. I'm single. Let me have some fun with my life."
I rolled my eyes and turned my face towards him, noticing that he wasn't taking the situation seriously. Why did he want to talk if he wasn't going to listen to anything I said?
