My back was pressed upon the ragged trunk of the biggest tree on campus, the shade from the leaves enveloping my entire body.I picked at the grass beneath me as my eyes welled up with tears. Justin had left a month ago, and I was ignoring every effort he made to speak to me. He was getting more famous by the minute, though, so I saw him every time I turned on the television or scrolled through the internet. He was inescapable, but for once I finally wanted to do nothing but escape from him.
"Fancy some company?" Someone spoke from above me, making me squint through the sunlight to see who it was.
Tyler stood before me with a bag of lunch in his hand and a smile upon his lips. Nodding my head, I moved over to give him space to sit beside me. He outstretched his legs and yawned before placing his arm around my shoulder.
"Are you feeling any better today?" He questioned, using his other hand to take food out of the bag.
I shrugged and kept my gaze on the grass, making him sigh in defeat. He nudged my side and pushed a carry-out box onto my lap.
"It's chow mein, your favorite. Eat it. I know you've been here for a while."
Not being able to turn down his compassionate behavior, I thanked him quietly and forced myself to eat it. My stomach turned in disgust as I swallowed the food, but I was used to it because of how little I had been eating in the past month.
"Tell me how you've been," Tyler urged, taking a sip of his water.
Taking a deep breath in, I wiped my mouth with my sleeve and cleared my throat before speaking.
"Same old, same old. I'm not feeling any better, if you want me to be honest."
Tyler frowned and lowered his hands to my waist, raising me up swiftly and placing my body onto his lap. I sat sideways and leaned my head on his shoulder.
"Let it out, love," Tyler pleaded, rubbing my thigh. I sighed and felt a lump growing in my throat.
"I don't know how I'm going to get over him," My voice cracked, making me feel even more vulnerable.
He smoothed my hair down and remained silent, allowing me to continue to speak.
"I need someone or something that will help me forget about him. You know, make me feel happy again," I admitted, licking my lips.
"What if I told you I had a solution for that?" Tyler whispered in my ear, making my skin prick with goosebumps.
I raised my head off his shoulder and looked at him with my eyebrows furrowed and my heart beating quickly. His eyes flicked continuously from mine to my lips, making me feel fuzzy on the inside.
Shifting around to straddle him, I felt his large hands support the base of my back. I wrapped my arms around his neck and saw him staring hungrily at my lips.
"Can I show you what it is?" He breathed hotly against my ear, making me bury my hands into his hair. I nodded and he tilted his head, leaning closer to my lips.
Our lips attached in a swift manner, one of his hands rising up to cup my cheek. I moaned into his mouth as he licked my lips, driving him to move quicker. I felt my heart thumping irregularly as he craned his neck to deepen the kiss.
His other hand creeped up my shirt, rubbing my back gently. I squirmed around on his lap, making him groan and thrust his tongue deeper into my mouth.
