I awoke in the morning with my limbs tangled up with Justin's, the side of my body that was pressed up against him all night radiating heat in response. I tried as carefully as I could to free myself from his grasp."Baby?" Justin mumbled groggily with his eyes still shut. I bit my lip and mentally cursed myself for waking him up.
"Yes?" I whispered, smoothing back the hair that had messily fallen upon his forehead. He turned on his side to face me and slowly opened his eyes, cringing at how brightly the sun illuminated the room.
He sighed and ran his finger along the gash in his eyebrow, then moved it down to feel the swelling on his lower lip. Frowning, he turned his gaze to the wall behind me and placed his full attention upon it. I could tell that he was overthinking about something, but I just didn't know what it was. He remained silent even when I rubbed his cheek with my thumb, something that would usually get him to moan in delight.
"What's wrong?"
"How do you not know, Jasmine?" He questioned in frustration, moving his gaze to stare at me. I raised my eyebrows at his sudden tone and moved my hand down from his cheek.
"I'm not a psychic. You have to tell me when things are bothering you," I retaliated, shrugging because he was expecting me to guess what was wrong with him.
Justin sat up and ran his hands along his face carefully, groaning into them. I sat up beside him and stared at him as he gripped tightly onto my sheets, his knuckles turning white.
"I lied to you," He admitted in defeat, avoiding eye contact with me. I felt the pit of my stomach twist at the sound of his words. Suddenly, I felt as if someone had punched me right in the gut.
"About what?"
My hands began to shake as I kept them on my lap, so I placed the blanket over them to conceal my building anxiety.
"Staying. How do you expect me to stay with you, Jas? With the type of career that I have, I can't have a normal life. I have so much shit on my schedule every day and I'm forced to do things that I don't even like for the sake of fame. I won't let you be a part of this lifestyle. You don't deserve it," He reasoned, still avoiding eye contact.
Scoffing, I stood up from the bed and walked over to the side he was on and picked up his clothes from the floor. I threw the clothes at him out of anger and felt tears building up in my eyes. My lip trembled as he sat naked in my bed with a pile of clothes on his lap.
"Jasmine, please listen to me," He begged, throwing his hands up in defeat. I laughed at his pathetic reasoning and pointed towards the door.
"Get out. Now."
He gulped, his Adam's apple bobbing up and down. His cheeks turned pink, something that would happen when he was upset or ashamed.
"You don't mean that. I know we can't be together but that doesn't mean you can kick me out. You're not thinking straight. I just want what's best for us," He explained, clutching onto his shirt.
"I'm kicking you out because you're being an asshole. I thought you had changed, but you're pulling same shit you did before. Don't talk to me about what's right when you're constantly wrong," I spat, slipping my clothes back on.
I felt disgusted and humiliated. Had he just used me for sex? Was I just an attempt at getting over Hailey? Whatever the case was, I knew that it was harmful to me.
"Maybe Tyler was right," I chuckled sadly, trying my best not to cry in front of him. "Maybe he's the better option for me. You obviously don't care enough for me, so I'm done with your games. Go back to your little druggie girlfriend and have fun with the rest of your life."
