Niall's POV

As I held her body close to mine, slinging my arm around her waist, her bright eyes looked so alive and genuinely happy. My heart skipped a beat, the close proximity between our bodies causing me to feel even more contented. This moment was majestic, just so perfect.

"Three... Two... One!" (Y/N) and I shouted in sync.

"It's 2016!" She said excitedly.

"Happy New Year, honey," I said as I leaned in, closing the gap between our lips. She kissed me back in an instant, in which I smiled. She pulled away, her hands clasped together as her eyes watched the fireworks.

The fireworks were ignited, decorating the night sky so beautifully with bursting colors. It was a such breathtaking sight. "This is so beautiful," she exclaimed in awe, not tearing her eyes away from the fireworks. Her eyes were fixated on the fireworks, not even willing to miss a second of it.

I laughed lightly. "Yes it is." She didn't realise that I took out my camera and snapped pictures of her admiring the fireworks.

"This is beautiful," I commented, smiling to myself as I looked at the multiple pictures of her.

"Those fireworks are ignited every year, hun," I chuckled as I kept my camera. "And you'll see them again next year."

"You're thinking I'm only thinking about the fireworks?" she asked, bewildered.

I raised my eyebrows. "Isn't it?"

It was her turn to laugh at me. She shook her head before she continued to laugh again. "I'm sorry," she said, using her hands to cover her mouth as she laughed silently.

My lips curved into a smile effortlessly. I loved to watch her laugh whole-heartedly, a genuine laugh. She seemed so much more beautiful that way. I was proud that I was the reason she laughed that hard.

Once she managed to stop laughing, she pulled my hand. "Come on here," she said as she started to lead the way. Since there were too many people, we had to push our way through the crowd. I heard her mumbling "excuse me" and "sorry" along the way.

"Where we going now?" I asked when we were finally away from the crowd.

"Shut up and see," she smiled teasingly.

I widened my eyes, feigning hurt. "How could you shut me up on the first date of the year?"

She shrugged her shoulders and giggled. "And you still love me."

"Kiss me," I said, my hands pulling her closer to me.

She smiled as her hands touched my face delicately before making their way to my hair. "Not yet, baby," she said quickly. She held my hand as she continued to walk.

I shook my head in amusement. Twenty minutes passed and we were still walking.

"Won't you tell me where we're going?" I sighed. "We've been walking for ages."

She turned to face me. "I'm sorry, baby. I just wanted it to be perfect," she admitted. "We're almost reaching anyway. Just please bear with me."

A wave of guilt washed over me instantly. I ruffled my hair as I looked at her. "Babe, I'm sorry-" I stopped talking when she stopped in her tracks all of a sudden. She turned around with a huge smile in her beautiful face, her little dimple showing. Perplexed, I tilted my head slightly as I looked at the small store right ahead of us. I stared at it for some time as memories began to flood in my mind.

"Come on, I'll get you something awesome if you'll pretend to be my boyfriend today. Please?" The sixteen years old pleaded, looking into my eyes with those hopeful eyes.
