Busting out

Arianna left soon after we went over the details of the plan, which wasn't much. I ate dinner and lied down on my bed thinking about the weird 'dream' I've been having for the past few nights. Is it a dream? Am I going insane? I thought about asking Arianna, but I didn't want to ruin my chances of getting out of here. That night I dreamt of something different; I actually saw Laurent and my mother. She was hugging him while he cried. I could see tears rolling down her face too. I felt so bad, as if I was causing them this pain. Was I? I tried thinking about to more, but I fell into a deep sleep.

I was awoken to the sound of my door opening. Someone was bringing me breakfast. It was usually Arianna but she had to spend all of today finding keys. There were a lot of doors we had to get through before we could bust out. I knew she could do it though. The day passed by like a blur and I went to sleep. I dreamt of nothing..... which was odd.

The next day I ate breakfast while I watched tv for the first time, and before I knew it, Arianna came into my room with the keys hanging on her belt buckle.

I smiled at her. "Great job, I knew you could do it."

"Thanks. Let's wait a little while then we can leave. Security is very loose tonight so that's good. Not like any of them do their job anyways." She says, rolling her eyes.

"Got it." I said, letting out a chuckle.

We waited for what seemed like an eternity until Arianna finally motioned for us to go. She unlocked the door and we ran for it. It was extremely quiet so we had to keep our footsteps as soft as possible. We were like ninjas, quietly going through all of the white hallways and doors as the lights above us flickered with excitement. When we saw the moon past the last door, we knew we made it. I ran outside and fell to my knees.

"Thank God," I looked back at Arianna and cried tears of joy. "We really did it." She looked more excited than I did.

"We did." She say next to me and cried with me. We couldn't really believe it. We got out.

We had no plan after this, but I knew we could find my house from here. We walked until the sun started to rise, and I finally saw my street. Relief filled through me. I started to run to my house, but I fell down and couldn't move my body. The last thing I saw was Arianna running towards me then I blacked out.

I woke up in a hospital bed, but I couldn't move my body. I heard two voices that I thought were Laurent and my mother.

"How long will he be like this?" Laurent said as he cried.

"I'm not sure, dear. We just have to keep praying." My mother said.

"I'm trying, mama, but I'm giving up hope and-" my mother cut Laurent off.

"Don't ever lose hope, Laurent. If we lose hope, that's when we truly lose him."

I tried listening to the rest of the conversation, but all I could hear was a blur of sounds until I fell into hole of darkness.
