Chapter 19

Sophia's POV...

When i woke up i was in the hospital with my right hand handcuffed to the bed, i had a IV in my arm and a heart monitor strapped to me with the constent beeping sound as the only sound in the room.

"Hey baby your awake" i looked to the voice and mum was sitting next to my bed watching me.

"Uh yeah, how long was i out?"

"5 and a half hours"

"Why so long, i thought i had a panic attack!"

"Oh you did sweety but because of your condition it brought on a heart attack, we were told if it happens again you might not wake up so baby if you feel like having another panic attack, you need to try your best to calm down" mum explain, i just stayed quiet, it was her fault anyway why didnt anyone tell me the warden is my father.

"I'll go get the doctor to come check on you" mum stood up and walked out the door leaving me alone, well, there was a guard at the door watching me but i was fine with that.

When mum came back she was followed with a man in a white trench coat looking thing and a woman in a fancy suit holding some papers.

"Well its good to see you awake young lady, my names Dr. Wood but please just call me Liam, this is patricia shes here to keep an eye on me since im new to this hospital, so dont worry she doesnt bite" he introduced making me laugh a little.

"Its nice to meet you"

"Now how are you feeling pain wise, 1 to 10, 1 being your fine and 10 being excusiating pain"

"Id say about a 4 im fine its just my chest feels really tight and its kinda making it hard to breath" i explain as much as possible before going into a deep breath fit trying to get air into my lungs, suddenly my heart monitor started beeping faster which freaked me out more making it 10x harder to breath.

"Sophia you need to calm down, breath in threw your nose and out threw your mouth" Liam said coming to my side grabbing a cord and putting it on my nose and around my ears to stay on, it felt strange having the air go up my nose but it did help a lot, after a few minutes my breathing came under control and now im feeling quite tired.

"I think its best you stay here for a couple of days just so we can keep an eye on you so that, doesnt happen again, im gonna go call you warden and let him know so he can make the arrangements for some guards for the next couple of days, as for you get some sleep" hopefully the warden doesnt come here i need time to think.

The Dr. And the lady left the room and it was just me and mum, i looked over at her and she looked worse then me.

"Mum? Are you getting much sleep? What about eating? You seem, i dont know skinnier, like sickly skinny" she laughed with out any humor scaring me.

"Your the one in hospital on the brink of death and your worried about me?" She said without looking at me.

"Well of course, i might be angry with you but your forgetting something, you are my mother, of course im gonna be worried" she looked up at me with a straight face.

"What about the warden?" I looked away uncomfortable about where this conversation is heading.

"I dont know what your talking about"

"Sophia genson he is your father" i snapped my head over to look at her enraged, my heart monitor picking up a beat.

"No! My father died before i was born, the warden is not my father, the warden is the boss of the prison i live in thats it, now please i need you to leave so i can get some sleep, you being here is not helping my situation" she say there shocked but got up and left.

I colapsed on the bed to mad to sleep now, after everything ive been threw at that jail i just now find out the wardens my father.

"If i may, i dont really know your mother but i do know the warden" i looked up at the guard that i forgot was watching me.

"What are you trying to say?" I asked sitting back up.

"Theres a reason the warden left before you were born and theres a reason your mother made you believe he was gone"

"And what would that be?" He looked away unsure if he should be telling me this.

"When the warden first got the job as warden of the prison he was very happy he'd have a good job so you and your sister could have a good up bringing but then before you were born the jail was broken into" he stopped looking off into the distance.

"We all thought they were trying to break a prisoner out, how wrong we were"

"Well what happened?" I asked very interested in this story, he stepped forward sitting in mums chair so i turned to face him crossing my legs and got comfortable.

"You see the warden had agree until you were born that he would take the night shifts so he could be there during the day, but there was an insident that needed the warden to be there during the day, you mother being highly pregnent had gone with him to the prison just in case she went into labor and needed him. Unfortunatly while she was in his office, alone, the people broke in, alarms going of guns being fired, all the guards were watching all the prisoners little did we know that they snuck past us straight to the wardons office and kidnapped your mother"

"Oh my goodness why? Why was mum kidnapped, how did she escape?"

"Ah yes well, when the warden found out his wife and two unborn daughters were kidnapped he went mad like crazy mad, since the prison is 2 hours drive from anything, longer with a pregnant lady with them, the warden released every single good behavior prisoner and some of the guards and made them find your mother at all costs, an hour later a prisoner walked into the prison carrying your mother who might i add decided then and there to go into labor"

"What? Your joking, who were the kidnappers? What happened to the prisoner that carried my mother back, and why did my father leave us?" I asked.

"Wow calm down, okay no im not joking, the kidnappers we found out were i guess you could say your grandparents seeing as they were the wardens parents, they were arrested and admitted that they were going to kill your mother because they didnt want warden having kids and they said they werent the only ones, so as long as the warden had nothing to do with you girls, you were safe so he left devoted his life to his job though he gives half of his pay checks to your mother to spend on you girls, so thats why he left, though there was talk going around that when you got arrested your mother told your father and he pulled some strings to get you into that prison so then he could finally get his quality time with you"

Oh my goodness he was just pretecting us from his family, crap i feel like shit now he was always so nice to me and he always went out of his way to come see me, he just wanted father daughter time, thats it when i see him nexts im going to apologize and im gonna be the best daughter i can be to him.

"Wait what happened to the prisoner is he still a prisoner there i would really like to thank him"

"Guard harry thomas ma'am, once known as inmate harry from block a at your service" he said holding his hand out to shake, wait oh my god.

"It was you? I dont understand how are you a guard now?"

"your mother was so greatful that i carried her all the way back to the prison while she was having contractions that she made your father drop the charges against me, your father equally as greatful offered me a job as a guard at the prison i agreed and have been a guard ever since"

"Wow im so proud of you, oh hey uh thanks for saving mums life i wouldnt be alive right now if it werent for you"

"It was my pleasure ma'am, now i think it best you get some sleep, we'll talk later, i dont want to over excite you" he stood up and walked back to his post.

"Yeah your right im a little tired now, goodnight"

"Goodnight Sophia"

I closed my eyes and dreamed of a younger verson of the guard carrying my pregnant mother to safty.
