Chapter #10

"You can count on me
Like 1,2,3 and I'll be there......"

The music blast from our earphones as we sat in the back of the bus.

"Heyyyy this is just like a school picnic !!", I squealed in Nicky's ears as she rolled her eyes and popping gum in her mouth.

"And I know when I need it I can count on you like 4,3,2 and you'll be there..."

We had left early in the morning to the requested place where the other interns  were already waiting.

The day was spent only in the city as the bus dropped us and we were allowed to roam wherever we wanted. There were only twenty people in all and I realised that none of them had a companion but me.

Hell, none of them had a best friend equal to the pain beside me then !

We went into alleyways and cafés experiencing the oh-so-awesome smells of coffee and desserts.

Desserts ? Did someone say desserts?

Nicky helped me click photographs of what she thought was good. The walls in the alleyways had been spray painted to resemble different countries probably done by localites.

As afternoon approached, we choose an elite café munching on macroons and coffee latte.

Is this even lunch ? Well... Yeah for us!

Walking around the place, we went into a few shops. Being the shopping lunatic that Nicky was ended up buying a T-shirt with "Aussie" written on it.

"I want to take back something with me . Like a souvenir you know.", she chirped.

Take back ? Oh of course she is going back.........

We then walked back to the field where the bus dropped us cracking lame jokes. If someone would have heard us then, we would have been whisked away to a mental hospital.

All of us were then taken to an old abandoned field and after a tiring day, all of us wanted to crash. But in a field ?

Well .... We're camping of course !

The wind took away my sleep as I realised that. Tents were hired and put up, while some made a fire (or tried to) while me and Nicky just sat in a corner laughing about absolutely nothing.

Soon, a fire cracked away merrily at a distance while the hills lay far away. The cold wind were spine chilling as the hearth gave some warmth. We sat near the fire, on logs, exchanging stories and introductions as we hardly knew each other.

Suddenly I spotted a board at a distance but couldn't quite make out what it said without my spectacles. I think it said "Beef".
"Nicky", I said nudging her in the ribs," is there a beef farm down there ?", I said pointing towards the board.

"Beef ? Well ... You pathetic idiot. It says "Reef" and not "Beef"!"

Wait .... What ?! Reef ? Okay.

At that moment, under the billion stars, all I wanted was my is-it-what-I-think-it-is wish to come true.
