Chapter #11

"You've always wanted this haven't you ?", Nicky asked shaking me.

I nodded. I hadn't spoken a word since the last ten minutes which was saying something for a person like me.

"Thank god you signed up for this. I love it !", Nicky sighed and I nodded again.

*A while ago*

All of us had to wake up early as we had to stick to the schedule that was given to each one of us.

"Dude ? I wonder where are we going. This paper says that it's going to take four hours ! ", I said emphasising over four.

"Sorry to interrupt your complaining but I think we should get going.", she said rolling her eyes.

The bus rumbled past the hills and trees. Did I smell the ....sea ? Well, the air did feel a little salty.

Stop being paranoid!!

"Hey I smell the sea ! ", I blurted out to Nicky who was looking out of the window with her headphones plugged in.

"What ?", she said giving me an annoyed look,"yeah sure ! You are Poseidon's ki........ Hey you know what ? I think you are right."

I did not notice the bus had stopped and everyone was getting out already.

What I saw next made me go limp. Before me stood a vast stretch of blue waters and it was a colour of deep azure. I couldn't believe my eyes. Nicky nudged me and pointed towards a board making me go pale.

How about diving in the Great Barrier Reef ?

I hadn't spoken a single word as we made our way towards the small boats that stood waiting for us. There were excited whispers all around. Early morning surfers trudged towards the beach to catch big waves.

"Woaaaaahhh", Nicky said. Following her eyes , I almost passed out.
Two surfer dudes were coming back after surfing on the waves with big surf boards in their hands. Beads of water glistened their perfect bodies.

"I am totally sure they are Greek Gods ! I mean .. Those abs are awesome !", Nicky whispered making me smirk. She was right. Gods right out of a book.

"Okay. These weights will help you to be under the water so tie them around your waists", the instructor said handing us a rope with weights. I tied them around me and I almost felt the weight pulling me down. I helped Nicky with hers.

"So your cylinders will be attached to the boat. Your college has already given you a drill and now its show time", the lady said making us smile.

We perched ourselves near the end of the boat.

"Are we supposed to jump?", Nicky said nervousness clearly visible.

"Yes."

"We have to jump now ?"

"Yes"

"Are you scared?"

"Yes"

"You'll be there right?"

"Yes"

"Can you please push me?"

"Yes"

And I pushed her.

No wonder Nicky was my travel bud.

And then , I took a plunge. The plunge that changed my life.
