Anger flared in my chest. I could not believe my ears.
He did NOT just say that to me..
No way I was going to abort my child. It was my baby. Not his. If Loki was going to support Odin..no. He wouldn't. He didn't have a particular like for Odin so why would he support this, whatever reason. I could feel the anger coming off Loki in waves, so I knew he'd side with me.
"Why the hell should I?" I said sharply. "It's my baby. Not yours." I added. Odin said nothing for a moment and I felt Loki start to fume even more.
"That baby will be too dangerous once it s born. It will wield very strong powers." He said calmly with a straight face. I knew that wasn't all. Or that wasn't even it. My eyes narrowed. "I don't believe you." I replied defiantly. He just sighed and shook his head. "You don't-"he began but was cut off by Loki.
"no." he hissed. "i want no more lies coming from your mouth. So what if our baby has strong powers? It's our baby; we'll love it and care for it all the same...even if that's unorthodox to you." He snarled. Oh boy, Loki was definitely pissed. Odin slowly stood. "You will not speak to me that way girl." He hissed. His temper was breaking too. Should i do something or let this mini war continue? I was perfectly content with allowing Loki to spit insults at Odin, but perhaps that wouldn't be morally right. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. They were shouting insults at each other. Great. Okay, I really had to stop this.
A sudden wave of nausea over came me but i would have to hold it down for a moment. Then I could go spill my guts. But why could Odin possibly want to kill a baby...? Then it hit me. he didn't want me distracted. He wanted to me train, so i could use my powers for this prophesied oncoming storm. Asshole. made me even more angry but i didn't really like what they were saying to each other. And I also had to get to a toilet...
I opened my eyes, and used a voice loud enough to over power their shouts. "QUIET!" I hollered. They both fell silent. I took another deep breath, and my eyes looked to the both of them who stared back at me. "I will not be getting rid of the baby no matter what you say," I said as calmly and collected as I could, "and won't have you two arguing like fools over it. So i'll say this once. We conceived this child, it is a living thing, and haven't you heard of a woman's right to chose? Whether you like it or not, you're going to be a grandfather," this gave me a glare from Loki, "so please do not ask me to kill my child." I said.
After finishing my speech, i turned on my heel and walked to the exit doors. I could feel both their gazes watching me as I walked out. I hadn't peeked a glance at their expressions when I was done so I did not know if they were dumbfounded, angry or something else. Didn't matter the least bit to me, I said what I had to say.
After exiting, I made a bee line to the nearest bathroom, that I knew of. Which happened to be our chambers. I threw open the bedroom door, and hurried straight to the bathroom. I keeled over the toilet, and threw up. There wasn't much too throw up, and it didn't taste too good either. I thought I heard Loki come in but I wasn't sure because he would've come in too make sure I as alright..or at least I hoped he would. I don't want to sound cynical but I could play a really good silent game.
I used a damp washcloth to wipe my mouth and then i brushed my teeth to get rid of the taste, followed by downing a glass of water. I made my way to the closet and grabbed a grey hoodie sweater and black sweat pants, as well as a blue t-shirt. I quickly changed into these much more comfortable "Midgardian" clothes. Asgardian garb was nice but I'd take yoga pants any day.
When I walked out into the bedroom I saw Loki sitting in a chair reading a book. It looked like he had been there for some time. My eyes narrowed. He didn't even look up! He just turned his page and went on reading. Another asshole. Fantastic. Spectacular.
I frowned a little and made my way that would lead out to the corridor. If he wanted to be like this, I would make him regret it-ish. Maybe it was the pregnancy hormones but I was feeling salty. I opened the door and sauntered out, not saying a word to the bastard.
Now, where could I go...then an idea struck. One Loki might not like but I didn't care at the moment.
Thor.
We hadn't exactly met on the best of terms so why not go make amends and ask him to show me around? All I had really seen of this place was corridors, med rooms, and training areas. Loki hasn't seemed to be too interest in showing me around regardless. Now, to finding Thor...
It surprisingly wasn't that hard. He was sparring by himself in a training area. So, I gathered my courage and made my way over to him. He didn't notice me at first. I cleared my throat a little. He stopped and looked to me. at first he was a little shocked, then he composed himself, putting on a straight face. "Lady Astrid." He said coolly. I smiled nervously. "hey...Thor, i'd like to apologize. He cocked an eyebrow. "For what?" He asked. "For how we met. We didn't exactly meet on the best terms, nor did we make any sort of amends there after. So i'd like to be friends with you if that's alright." A smile formed on his lips and he stuck his hand out and i took, shaking it. "Well it's a pleasure to make your acquaintance Lady Astrid." He said. I couldn't help but smile a little brighter. "Please, call me Astrid." He nodded and i pulled my hand away from his. If I might say, he had really warm hands, an interesting change from Loki's cold ones.
"So, if you don't mind me asking, how's that thing with you heart?" He asked. I raised an eyebrow, thinking back a moment. Then i understood what he meant. "Oooh...yeah that..well they don't tell me anything but last time i was in the hospital or whatever, i looked at one of the monitor things i am as human as ever." Thor nodded after listening. "Well that is good to hear." I nodded in agreement. "Anyway...I also came to ask you if you'd show me around? I haven't seen much and Loki is being an ass so I need something to do." Thor grinned. "It would be my pleasure." Fantastic!
I was also a little thankful that he hadn't said anything about my clothes when we took off on our tour. I wouldn't have changed regardless of what he said but still. I also had an inkling feeling Loki was watching. I had a spidey-sense of when he was using his magic to watch. It was the same feeling you got when being stared at, just that no one was around so duh, it was magic. Whatever. If he was going to get worked up and jealous over this it would serve him right.
Thor showed me all over the massive palace from the gardens too \all the secret nooks and crannies. He even showed me some cool places outside the palace. We talked and learned more about each other. I had a feeling we would be great friends. The end of the day cam unfortunately fast and I began to realize how hungry i was. My stomach growled abruptly causing Thor to go into a fit of laughter. I smiled sheepishly before laughing too.
"I think we should call it a day," Thor said a grin still plastered on his lips. I smiled back and nodded in agreement. "I reckon so...this was all so wonderful, thank you for an amazing day." I said happily before throwing my arms around his broad shoulders and hugging him. He hugged me back. It was as if we had been friends for years...
I heard someone angrily clear their throat behind me. Loki, of course. It was only a matter of time before he came. I sighed and pulled away from Thor before turning toward my husband. "yes?" I said calmly. He looked furious, rage driven by his jealousy and possessive attitude.
"What are you doing with him?" Loki asked. "I was making a new friend who also showed me around this place. Plus you were pouting or something, really think a pregnant lady wants to deal with that?" I said sharply. Before loki could speak I turned back to thor.
"Thank you for today Thor." I said again. He looked like he was trying not to laugh and i flashed him a smile. "My pleasure Astrid. Till next time." He said politely. I nodded to him and flashed me one more smile before walking off.
Once again I faced Loki. All his pent up anger was clearly about to be released. I had never seen him this way before, so it scared me slightly, however i didn't show that.
I waited for him to rant. And all at once, it happened. His rage just sort of...exploded out.
