The next morning I was woken up with my little siblings poking my face. I groaned as I slowly came to.
"Wake up Jersey. It's breakfast time." My little brother said as I opened my eyes to be met with big smiles. I yawned as I stretched reaching for my phone. I had a few texts. One of them was from Jenna, the other was from Dean and the most recent one was from Jake.
To: Jersey
From: Jake
Good morning :)
I smiled as I responded a simple good morning back. I decided to get dressed so I wasn't holding my family up. When I got out of the bathroom from changing my mom was the only one in the room.
"Where is everyone?" I asked as I put my pyjamas in the suitcase.
"They went down to breakfast. I decided we should talk as we go down there." My mom suggested. I nodded my head unsure on how I felt about us talking. I wasn't really close with my mom but I was closer with her than I was with my dad. We walked out of the room as we walked down the hall.
"What did you want to talk ab-" I began before she cut me off.
"You aren't mad at us, are you?" She asked right away. I thought about it.
"What would I be mad at you for?" I said knowing exactly why I should be mad. She stopped walking making me stop with her.
"I know it was hard saying good bye to your friends but you will meet new ones and besides you already have one." She said as I nodded my head.
"New home, new beginning I know." I said as she smiled. We began to walk again as we walked into the restaurant. My dad waved to us signalling us to go over there. Just as I was about to walk away I heard my name being called.
"Hey Jersey." I heard as I turned around. It was Jake.
"Oh hey Jake." I said as my mom continued to walk towards my dad.
"Here for breakfast with your family I see." He said as he smiled. I swear my heart skipped a few beats. I shook it off.
"Yeah actually I am." I said as I looked over at my family to see my mom walk over to us.
"Hi you must be Jersey's new friend. I'm her mom Tammy. You are?" My mom said nudging me slightly as I became embarrassed. They shook hands.
"Yeah I'm Jake. Nice to meet you." He said shaking my moms hand. A woman who looked like Jake's mom came over to us.
"Hi I'm Jake's mom Kayla. You must be Jersey. He wouldn't stop talking about you when he got back to the room." She said as I shook her hand. I smiled as I looked at Jake who's face was a bright red.
"How about we all sit together?" My mom said excitedly as his mom got all excited too. He had two little siblings too. They looked about the same age as mine which was nice. We guided them over to the table where my dad was. We introduced them to my dad as we all sat down. I sat beside Jake at the end of the table.
"I'm really sorry about my parents." He whispered to me. I smiled slightly.
"That's okay. I'm sorry for mine." I said as we both laughed. I had my hands rested on the table. I felt warm fingers gently caress the back of my hand.
"I don't usually introduce my family to a girl I just met." He whispered as he was now full on holding my hand. I blushed.
"I don't either." I said as I felt my heart begin to race. The waiter came over to ask for our orders. We continued to hold hands when it came to our turn to order. After a few minutes of Jake and I playing on our phones together our food came.
"Why exactly are you moving to Albuquerque?" I heard Jake's dad ask as we stopped eating to listen.
"My beautiful wife here got a new job in her law firm." My dad said as he pointed to my wife who smiled widely. They went back to eating again.
"They are going to be special friends." I heard Jake's mom whisper to my mom. I slightly looked up at my mom who smiled and agreed with her. Jake grabbed my hand slightly squeezing before he finished eating. When we were done eating each family paid for their bills and it took us a while to go our separate ways.
"Text me when you make it to Albuquerque so I know you made it safely." Jake said scratching the back of his neck. I blushed as I pushed his shoulder.
"I'll text you the entire ride there." I said as he smiled at me. "I guess I should get going so I can go see my new home." I said as I really didn't want to leave.
"Yeah I guess you should." He said sounding like he didn't want me to leave either. I was just about to say good bye but he pulled me into him. I smiled into his chest as I hugged him back. I heard a honking of the horn which was my signal to leave. "I guess I'll see you when I get back." He said as I nodded my head biting my lip.
"Yeah you will." I said as I slowly walked away. I got to my car waving one last time before I got in.
"He seems very nice." My mom said as I got in and the car drove off.
"He is." I said as I pulled out my earphones and began to listen to music.---When we finally arrived in Albuquerque I had not stopped talking to Jake since I left the hotel. We pulled up to a very large looking house.
"Welcome to your new home." My dad said as I opened the door and got out. I stared in amazement.
"This house looks like something a rich person could afford." I stated as I walked towards the front door.
"Yeah well we sort of can afford it." My mom said as we walked into the house. It was very open.
"Woah. This is incredible." I said as I looked around. My little brother and sister did the same thing as I did.
"Alright hold up. Before you go looking for rooms we sort of have it figured out. Jersey gets one of the bigger rooms with the conjoining bathrooms while we get the other. That leaves 3 other bedrooms for you two to fight over." My dad said as I raced up the stairs followed by my brother and sister. I opened up a door to see a room that only had a bed in it with a conjoining room. It had a fairly large closet.
"I call this room!" I called out as my parents walked into my room.
"Good. We get the room with the walk in closet." My mom said as I smiled. My little brother and sister finally decided on their rooms. "Get your butts downstairs and help move stuff inside." My mom said clapping her hands as we ran down the stairs and out the door. The moving people helped us bring in our boxes. I looked down the block. I seen a few kids who looked my age just suntanning outside. The one girl waved to me. I waved back as I continued grabbing some boxes. I brought the box inside. I looked through the boxes that were marked Jersey and began to ring them up the stairs to my new room. Once I got all the boxes in my room I decided to slowly unpack. After about 2 hours of unpacking and listening to music I was exhausted. I heard a knock on my door.
"Hey sweetie, we are thinking about ordering pizza. Want any?" My dad asked as I nodded my head.
"Yes please. Thank you." I replied as he walked in. He looked around.
"Seems like you know exactly where you are putting everything?" He said in more of the form of a question.
"Yeah I guess. I didn't think I had this much stuff but I guess I do." I said as I stood up looking at the amount of stuff spread out everywhere.
"Well I'm going to let your mom know that you want pizza. I'll leave you alone to finish unpacking." My dad said kissing the top of my head and walked out. I was in the middle of texting Jake since I told him I would text him when I arrived at the house. I looked around to make sure I had emptied all of my boxes except for a smallish box...
