When Sunday finally rolled around I was extremely nervous but I had my mind set on finding my dad. I was laying in my bed with my laptop on my stomach when my mom came in.
"Good night sweetheart. Don't be up too late you have school tomorrow." My mom said as she blew me a kiss. I nodded my head as she shut the door behind her. I looked under the door a bit to see the lights all turn off. I looked at the clock it read 11:23pm. I got off my bed and shut my laptop laying it on my bed. I grabbed a hoodie and my SnapBack before I grabbed the backpack I had packed the day before. I put the laptop in the backpack and zipped it up. I felt my phone go off.
To: Jersey
From: Jake
You ready? I made it outside the house. I'm at the corner of the street.
I texted him back saying I was coming. I swung the backpack on my one shoulder as I slowly opened the door making sure it didn't squeak. Once I was in the hall I shut it again slightly. I reached the stairs where I tip toes making sure I was quiet. When I reached the door I grabbed a pair of my high tops and tied them up tight. I unlocked the door making sure it wasn't loud. I opened it making sure it was locked before I shut it again. I took a deep breath before I took a step away and went to the corner of the street to meet up with Jake.
"Hey. You all set?" Jake asked as I nodded my head. I took out bus tickets that I bought. "What are those?" He asked as I shook my head smiling.
"How else are we supposed to get to Phoenix?" I said smirking at him. We began to walk to town where the bus station was. When we arrived their I walked straight up to the desk.
"Tickets please." The lady said at the desk. I handed her my tickets as I pointed to Jake who was sitting down on one of the chairs. "Alright. Enjoy your trip to Phoenix." The lady said as I smiled at her. I walked over to Jake who was fiddling with his fingers.
"Why are you so nervous?" I asked him. He shook his head.
"I am not used to this. I have snuck out before but I have never left town." He said as he was shaking a bit. I grabbed his hand.
"Jake it's okay. You don't have to come with me. You can go home right now. But I'm going." I said as he nodded his head.
"I'm coming with you. I refuse to leave you alone where anything can go wrong." He said as I nodded my head. I gripped his hand. "Are you nervous too?" He asked as I nodded my head.
"I haven't left town either but I have my mind set." I said as the bus pulled up. I looked at the clock on my phone 12:18am.
"Bus to Phoenix Arizona now loading." A man said as he was wearing a yellow vest. I stood up and grabbed Jake's hand.
"Trust me. Everything will be okay." I said as he nodded his head. We walked to the bus where the man asked for our tickets. I handed them to him as Jake took them from my hand. He handed them to him, himself. He pushed me forward as we found two seats on the bus. "Are you okay?" I asked him as I sat by the window. He sat down beside me as I looked at him. His eyes were dark.
"Yeah I'm fine. I'm good. So where exactly do we have to go?" He asked as I unzipped my backpack. I grabbed the directions as the bus took off. I handed it to him as I leaned back to look out the window. "Okay so what do we do just walk in and ask do you know where James Marine is?" He asked as I shrugged my shoulders.
"We will find out when we get there. But for now relax." I said as I leaned back against the window. I reached out and grabbed his hand. He pulled my hand so I was now leaning towards him. "Go to sleep Jake." I said as he nodded his head. I leaned up and kissed his cheek. I rested my head back on his shoulder. I felt myself slowly begin to go to sleep.

---I was woken up by the bright light of the sun shining in my eyes. I opened my eyes to see the sun starting to rise. I looked at my phone to see it was 5:46am. Not bad. I looked up at Jake who was still asleep. I moved slightly to lean against the window. I decided to play a game on my phone when I got a tap on my shoulder. I turned around to see a female who looked around my age.
"Yes?" I asked as she smiled at me.
"I'm Mandy. You are?" She asked as she held out her hand. I shook it.
"I'm Jersey." I said as she nodded her head.
"So your heading to Phoenix. What you going there for?" She asked as I bit my lip.
"I'm going to see my dad. How about you?" I asked trying to be friendly.
"Just going for the fun of it. I decided to travel with my boyfriend so that's what I'm doing. Is that your boyfriend?" She asked pointing to Jake. I didn't know how to answer that. We have been getting very close lately but I didn't really think we knew what we were. "That's okay I've been there. Usually ends up being your boyfriend in the end." She whispered to me as we both kind of smiled. A boy came and sat down beside her as I turned back around to face forward. Jake woke up smirking at me.
"What are you smirking at?" I asked as I felt my face go red.
"I heard that entire conversation. I kind of like her story. I like how it ends." He said as I shook my head.
"No." I said as the sun officially came up. He shook his head smiling as he looked at his phone. His face fell from happy to worried. "What's wrong?" I asked as he showed me his phone. His mom was calling him. "Don't pick it up." I said to him. I took the phone away from him and put it in my backpack. He took a deep breath.
"I'm good. I'm okay." He kept repeating. I hugged him tight.
"It's going to be okay. Trust me." I whispered as he took a deep breath and sat up.
"Your parents are probably going to be calling to soon." He stated as I nodded my head. I looked out the window.
"Yeah they will be."
