"Everybody inside the cabin. Now." Lenny said as everyone ran into the cabin followed by the men in the suits.
"We need to get them out of here, sir." One man said as they locked the doors.
"Yes I know that. I just don't know where to put them." Lenny said as my dad stood behind me with his arms sort of draped over my shoulders. I turned a bit to see a dock at the cabin to the left where there was a boat. I tapped my dads shoulders.
"Yes honey?" He whispered to me as I pointed out the window.
"The boat." I whispered back as my dad nodded his head. He moved out from behind me as he walked up to Lenny.
"There is a boat at the cabin beside us. Get them on the boat. It's the safest place to go." My dad said as Lenny nodded his head. He grabbed a man with his suit.
"Get them to the boat next door." Lenny said as we made out the back door.
"Move. Move." The man said as I looked in front to see my little brother and sister walking quickly with my mom and Mike. I looked behind me as a hand grabbed my shoulder. I looked up to see my dad gripping my shoulder. We moved as the car came zooming down the driveway.
"Everybody move quicker. Now!" Lenny yelled as I felt my dad stop gripping my shoulder. We reached the water which was the only way to get to the boat next door. I ran into the water as I turned behind me to see my dad getting prepared with guns. I stopped as a man grabbed me trying to push me back. I tried wiggling out of his grip as I watched my dad grab a gun cocking it a few times before he aimed. I watched as the men in the car got out and began walking towards my dad and Lenny. I was stilling trying to wiggle my way through as I felt hands grab me from behind trying to pull me forward. I was not going to move. I jumped up as the man in front of me caught me. I heard a gun shot as I looked up with my eyes wide. I looked to see my dad on the ground.
"No!!" I screamed as I felt tears brim in my eyes. I watched as Lenny began to fire his gun hitting every single man standing. I wiggled my way free as I ran towards my dad. I stumbled a few times as I tried getting out of the water. I reached my dad as I grabbed him holding him in my arms. "Please. Answer me. Please. I need you." I said as I cried. I heard Lenny on the phone calling an ambulance. "Please. Don't leave me again."---The ambulance drove my dad to the hospital as everyone waited in the waiting room. I stayed quiet the entire time. Mike came and sat beside me.
"How are you feeling?" He asked as he handed me a warm cup of coffee. I took a sip as I sighed. I didn't say anything but place my head on his shoulder.
"Family of James Marine?" The nurse said as everyone stood up.
"Is he okay?" Lenny asked as I stared at the nurse.
"He didn't make it. We are sorry. But you can go say your last good byes." She said as she guided all of us to the room. My heart dropped when we walked into the room to see his lifeless body lying on the hospital bed. I stared as everyone slowly left me alone in the room. I walked up to him as I felt tears brim my eyes. I grabbed his hand as I broke down in tears.
"Daddy, please I need you. Please come back to me." I said through my tears. I felt my knees get weak as I dropped to the ground. I moved myself so I was against the wall. I rested my back against the wall as I brought my knees up to my chest. I sat there trying to calm myself down. I heard footsteps come into the room. I looked up expecting to see a nurse telling me to leave but instead I seen Jake. He didn't say anything but he came to sit beside me. He wrapped his arms around me as I cried again.
"Jersey, look." Jake said as I looked up through my tears to see the heart monitor hooked up to James was moving. He was alive. I stood up quickly as I grabbed his hand holding it again.
"James? Can you hear me?" I said a little loud as I felt him move slightly. I looked at Jake as he ran out the door to let everybody know. The nurse and Doctor came into the room.
"This can not be possible." The doctor said looking over the monitor again. Lenny chuckled.
"James has escaped death many times before I guess death is letting him go." Lenny said as I looked down at him.
"Please open your eyes. Please James ." I said as I see his eyes slowly open. I sighed in relief as he looked up at me smiling. He rested his hand on my cheek.
"You-called-me-dad-at-the-cabin." He said as he was trying to catch his breath. I nodded my head. I looked up to see Mike who was staring at me with tears brimming in his eyes. He slowly shuffled out of the room as everyone greeted James. I followed Mike out of the room.
"Mike. What's going on? Don't you want to meet my dad?" I asked him as he turned around.
"I do Jersey, but I don't feel like I belong anymore. Believe me, you belong with your father." He said as he sat down on a chair. I sat down beside him.
"You'll always be my father. You did raise me as your own even though you knew the truth." I said as he smiled. He wrapped his arms around my shoulder as I placed mine on his waist as we made our way into the hospital room. Hopefully my life can finally start.
