************************************"Arrianna?" The word was whispered into the darkness without destination. It was all Janasvi managed to murmur to herself as she recovered from the shock of what Rikhil had just said to her. She followed in his tracks out the door.
"Rikhil" she called out but he was out of earshot. Sight too.
She made her way downstairs to the courtyard. The heavy rain was making it difficult to see past the courtyard or even within the means of the courtyard for that matter. Finally she was able to make out the silhouette of Rikhil sitting on the steps surrounding the courtyard. He was drenched as the steps weren't roofed either. She slowly walked forward and joined him, sitting right beside him. He sat with his head buried into the gap created by pulling his knees towards his chest.
He was brought out of his thoughts when she placed her palm on his shoulder.
He looked up, "you shouldn't be here. Your wound dressing will get wet. It could get infected."
"Fine." She removed the bandage cloth that was wrapped around her head like a hair band, to protect the injury at the back of her head, close to her nape, and tossed it aside.
"What are you doing? You're not supposed to take that off until the doctor says so. "
"It's fine. It's not even bleeding." She dismissed.
"Fine do what you want, just like always. Don't listen to me."
"Rikhil..." She inched closer and hugged him, laying her head against his chest. She could hear it pounding wildly. She knew very well that she was the reason behind it.
The rain eased out a bit. It was no longer pounding against their skin yet flowed heavily.
"I'm sorry. I didn't know and I didn't mean to hurt you. I'm so sorry."
"It's okay." He mumbled into her hair. He was slowly caressing her hair, careful not to touch her wound. "I should've told you before. Especially after you came out clean with your past. I just thought I'd lose you if I told you."
"Hmm... I know... That's why I hid the fact that I was depending on Antidepressants."
A moment of comfortable silence hung between the two. Everything was understood without saying.
After a while, Rikhil spoke, "Arrianna is my oldest brother Rajiv's wife. Was his wife. She was a beautiful lady. Inside out. The two of us got along so well. This was when my brother was still a jolly person. They were a perfect example of childhood love. They had their Kindergarten, Primary, High school and University together. They were so cute together. My fantasy love story. Until that one night. That one night snatched the happiness right off our hands. It took more than it gave. Four years ago. I was 15. It was festive time. Our neighbor's son was getting married. The ceremony was held In our courtyard because theirs' was too small to accommodate so many people and they couldn't afford to book a hall. You could hear the drums all the way up to my room. My room was on the third floor, the terrace. I loved it. It had a great view of the city. That night, I was upset and grumpy because my dad had told me off. I wanted to watch a live dance concert with my friends and my dad had grounded me. Arrianna, having become my confidant came to check on me. She knocked but I told her to go away and turned on my music to full volume, cutting out all sounds from outside. She finally sighed and left. She was six months pregnant then, the glow on her face only added to her beauty. She had milk white skin with a slight golden glow. She had amazing cat like eyes. Her straight hair ran to her knees in curls at the end. All in all she was a gorgeous woman.
