One Saturday night, The entire friend circle, as in, Shay, Kathan, Shaz, Rave, Layal, Nate, Rikhil and Janasvi, went out for dinner at China Cottage. Nate had been texting Vivian and when dinner was mentioned, Nate invited Vivian to join them. And he did, with Tehja. They were late but in time for the food. Janasvi sat away from the two and tried to keep Rikhil away from them too. She didn't want any trouble. The food was deliciously mouthwatering. It's kinda IndoChinese but it's awesome. Especially their kebabs.
They cracked jokes throughout dinner.
When it was time for desert, they went to Demetre's as they have the best deserts ever. At Demetre's, Janasvi didn't even have to look at the menu to decide that she wanted Brownie Points with chocolate sauce. She'd been having that for almost the entire ten months of her stay. They picked a corner table and sat down. Janasvi sat right in the middle where the seats are perpendicular to each other but when she returned from the washroom Shaz had taken her spot and asked her to sit at the edge, opposite Rikhil.
When deserts came, Janasvi's came last. She didn't mind at all but;
"For Madam," the waiter said in a French accent while placing it down.
"Thank you," Janasvi smiled and looked at her delicious desert. It was then that she realized, that on top of the icing swirl of the brownie, there was a ring placed. Janasvi looked up at Rikhil who had a knowing smirk. She was trying to piece the puzzle in her mind when Rikhil stood up and picked the ring up. The waiter stepped away giving him space but not leaving yet. Rikhil went on his knees in front of Janasvi, with his hand outstretched. The entire restaurant cheered and Janasvi went scarlet.
"Janasvi, ever since the day I have met you, my world has turned around. It's as if a magnet is pulling me towards you. I cannot imagine the presence of anyone else in your life because if you wouldn't be in mine, it would be meaningless. Yes, life would be meaningless without you. Ever since the day I've met you, I've felt that your eyes are calling out to me for help. I want to save you from not only your problems but the entire world. I want to make you sit on cloud nine so that no problem could reach you. I want to spread flowers in your path so your feet remain unharmed. I want to be your shield to protect you for as long as I live. And I want to do all this only because I Love You." He extended his other hand and Janasvi slipped hers into it.
He slid the ring onto her finger. It was a simple Diamond ring with its own elegance. Just the way She'd like it to be. He stood up with her hand in his, placing his other hand on her waist, he pulled her up to him while his hand circled her waist. She felt butterflies in her stomach as she said in a whisper, yet loud;
"I love you too."
He pulled her face closer by the cheek. She blushed and he kissed her. Janasvi loved the feel of his soft lips on hers. As She Kissed him back it felt the world had faded into the background and they had entered a world of their own where pain had no meaning... Where her past didn't exist and no one else but the two of them lived.Everyone in the restaurant clapped except for Tehja and Vivian. They both seemed to be burning with jealousy and hint of hatred in their eyes.
"Dance! Dance!" Their friends chorused and the crowd joined in.
"I'll get a good song played," the waiter hurried off.
The music came on and Rikhil and Janasvi began a slow dance.
Then they sat down to have their deserts. Shay, who was sitting next to Janasvi, switched seats with Rikhil so that he would be next to her. The two kept picking off each other's plates. They're a very childish couple. They never have heated arguments and fights, instead, they have pillow fights and high school debates.
Once done, they split the bill and left for the apartments. Janasvi and Rikhil hitched a ride with Layal and Nate. Upon hearing this Vivian and Tehja asked for a ride too. Despite the fact that it was clear that Roy's car had space, Nate didn't refuse as he didn't wanna come off rude.
