Chapter 14

"I got a strange mail today, Ms McLane," dad said when I entered the house after school, the same day as the fight. Uh oh!

"Okay... what was it about?" I asked, trying to look innocent.

"You. You punching another student in the stomach," he looked at me with a serious face. I was kind of scared actually. "Katie, what is that about? What have happened to you? I've been away for two years, and you have turned into a bully! What happened?" he asked. I could tell he was very disappointed.

"It's not like that!" I said, and told him the entire story. He bit his lip when I was finish.

"Katie, I can't say I would have acted differently, but it is the wrong thing to do," he said, but I could tell that he didn't really know what to say.

"Yes I know, I was just following my instincts in the moment," I said in an easy voice.

"Yeah, I know. I won't talk about it before the meeting, it is forgotten till then, okay?" he asked in a kinder voice.

"Thank you," I said, and went to my room. I had loads of homework. After an hour or so I was finish with some of it, and suddenly remembered Lizzy. I bet she's home still crying! What a terrible friend I am!

"Ma, I'm going over to Lizzy," I screamed as I ran out of the door.

I was at Lizzy’s house in three minutes, and ran straight into her bedroom.

"Hi, Katie!" she said when she saw me standing in her doorframe. She sat on the bed with Alice on the other side.

"Hi, I just wanted to check on you," I said between breaths. A tear ran down her cheek when I said it.

"I'm not okay," she whispered so her voice wouldn't break. I walked to the bed, and sat down between her and Alice. I placed an arm around her, and pulled her close.

"Why do they do it? Can't they just be nice? I wish he was more like Will, he is so good!" she cried out.

"I know, I know, but he's a guy, guys does things like that!" Alice said. "It's gonna be fine! I promise. Just try to forget all about him, he isn't worth crying for he's a total jerk!"

"I know, and I'm trying, but it isn't that easy..." Lizzy says, drying her face with the back of her hand.

"Is there anything you'd like to do?" I asked after a pause. She thought for a minute, then decided she wanted to go over at my place and sing. "Of course, Alice you're coming too, right?" She shook her head yes. We rose, and started to walk along the beach towards my house.

trying to apologize

But you put on quite a show

really had me going

but now it's time to go

curtain's finally closing

that was quite a show

very entertaining

but it's over now

go on and take a bow

I started and the girls joined in when they heard which song it was. Lizzy sang too though tears were streaming down her face. Poor Lizzy, she doesn't deserve this she is the best person on earth!
