That's my boyfriend

Chapter 1

The sun rays hit my face and woke me up. I rolled out of bed, a weird habit, I know, but it is kind of funny, isn't it? I got up, and walked like a zombie to my closet. I found white shorts, a light brown singlet that I cut the bottom of years ago, and my brown cowboy hat. I wear it all the time! I got it from my dad last time he was home. He's an actor so he's away a lot.

Before I put on my hat, I took a look in the mirror. Wow! My hair was like a birds nest; I never saw it this crazy before, it's just getting worse and worse! I grabbed my hairbrush and fixed it. My brown curls, freckles and big eyes made me look like a kid, but I always got compliments for looking so cute.

I ate some breakfast and walked to school. I love to walk to school. I can walk on the beach almost the entire way, and feel the sand run between my toes. In five minutes I stood outside Lizzy’s house and she came out.

"Hi Katie," she said.

"Hello," I answered, smiling at her.

"You know what?" she asked in an impatient manner.

"No, what?" I asked.

"He kissed me! I'm serious, Scott kissed me! Oh my god I think I'm dying of happiness!" She was so glad she danced around me, and I couldn't stop laughing at her. She seemed like nine years old when she did that, and she is just so cute!

"So are you officially a couple now?" I asked with a smile. Lizzy is my best friend, I want her to be happy all the time.

"No, not yet, he wants to wait a little, but I'm sure we will be soon enough. Oh Katie, can one die of happiness?" she asked. I laughed and smiled from one ear to the other. "But, oh! All this time I have been talking about Scott, it has been several weeks now, I haven’t asked you about anything! Do you crush on someone, Kat?" I thought for a second, and decided to tell her my hopeless case.

"There is this one boy, but he's kind of out of my league, it's Will Barnes," I said with a sigh. He was one of the popular, and probably didn't even know my name.

"That Barnes boy in my English class?" Her jaw dropped.

"Yes, it's him, but I know it's hopeless," I replied, and shrugged.

"Have you any idea how rich they are?" she asked. Her mouth was still hanging open.

"I know they're rich, but I don't care about that. I like him because he's nice, and his smile! I am dying every time I see him smile!" It was true, I really wouldn't care if he was the poorest boy at school, I just like him, and I don't even know why I like him so much.

"Yes of course, but wow! He is a really nice boy!" she answered. We were just outside the school, and the bell rang. We finished our conversation, and started to walk to class.

We found our seats. I sit between Gerard and Ruth. I’m not really friend with any of them, but I have nothing against them either.

Mr. Loren came in, and the conversations died out. Everybody respects him, he is the coolest and most liked teacher at this school. He is my teacher in science, history and P.E.

He started to talk about the civil wars, and everyone sat as bright lights listening to him. He is like that teacher who can make everything interesting, and make everyone listen when he talks. It's kind of amazing, I thought no teacher could do that, I mean, teachers are just annoying, you know.

The day passed quickly; it was already lunchtime! I sat with Lizzy, Alice and Ricky on our special table in the cafeteria. We always sit here, always.

I saw Will, and some of his friends walking towards the table next to us. When he was right behind me he lost all his food on the floor. Everybody turned their heads and people started laughing and making friendly jokes. Lizzy grabbed my arm.

"Katie, help him pick it up!" She didn't have to ask me twice. I got off my chair, and bowed down to help him. When he saw my hands he looked at me and smiled. When all the food was in our arms we rose, and I gave it to him. Damn this guy eats much! He looked at me for a second.

"Thanks! You're Katie, right?" he said, and shook my hand.

"Yeah," was all I was able to say.

"Well, my name's Will." He looked straight into my eyes when he talked, and a little smile made his face look like an angel's."Thanks again, Katie," he said after a little pause, and walked off to his friends. He turned his head to look back at me.

My heart was beating like a drum. Will Barnes! I'm dying!

"What the hell was that?!" Alice said. "You have to be kidding me! Will Barnes talked to you! I'm just going outside to die... That's crazy! Did you see how he looked at you? Oh my god! Katie, do you like him?" Alice was totally out of her mind, but I had to smile.

"Alice, calm down, everybody can hear you!" I said in a hushed voice, laughing. "Yes, of course I like him, who does not? But please don't tell anyone," I told her, and her eyes widened.

"I'm so going to make a couple out of you two, I promise you!" she said and rubbed her hands with an evil grin. I shook my head and laughed at her. She’s the weird one, and the crazy one.
