Justin's POV

I almost don't notice that she has handed me a bottle of beer, until she waves her hand in front of my face.

Hailey smiles, lifting her own beer bottle to clink against mine, "Then she must be the beauty behind your madness."

"You don't know what you're talking about," I mumble, and Hailey chuckles.

"Oh don't I?" she tilts her head back to take a drink and I run my fingers over mine.

"You can drink on the job?" I ask when she sets the bottle back down on the counter in front of mine. Her lips are wet and she licks them making me shudder.

She smiles at me in a way that makes me question why the hell I even decided to sit here and listen to her in the first place, "You didn't see anything."

I should run.

And I'm about to do just that, when the front door to the bar slams open and both Hailey and I quickly turn our heads to look at who has entered.

It's just a drunk man about my age. He stumbles in with his died hair that I can tell is normally jet black and his sleeve of tattoo's showing up from where his sleeves are rolled.

Jackass.

I roll my eyes and spin back around ready to drink away the rest of my life when I notice Hailey's expression. She is frozen and I almost don't say anything because it's nice having some piece and quiet for a moment. However, I can't help but wondering what clicked when that drunk man walked in.

I'm more curious than ever and that's what pushes me to ask her.

"Hey ding dong," I mutter making Hailey jump slightly and then turn to face me. It takes a moment for her eyes to completely register who I am, but when they do she narrows her eyes.

"What did you call me?" She hisses and I wave her off with my hand.

"Who's that guy?" I ask ignoring her question and pointing over my shoulder with my thumb.

Hailey stares at me blankly, "Who?"

Oh my god. And I'm the drunk one.

"The guy over there, the terrorist looking one with his leather jacket and scruffy face and-"

"Shut up!" She reaches over the counter to give my shoulder a shove. Not a good idea since I sway back a little too much. I almost fall off the barstool when she says, "He's my ex."

"Ah, and he dumped you?" I smirk probably not sounding as light hearted as I wanted to since her expression falls and her head drops.

"You can put it that way," her eyes roam all over her feet and I sigh, really wishing I could have just kept my mouth shut.

Yet, I opened my trap and got myself buried in a hole with this chick and her 'he loves me, he loves me not' problems.

Over my shoulder I can hear Hailey's ex-boyfriend cursing over something with his friends who look equally as drunk as me. I wonder what made them end up here?
