The sun was too bright as it snuck through the single window in our room, and danced on my face, making it all too hot. I tried pulling the covers over my head to block it, but the air under it was only worse and made me feel suffocated. I threw the covers off me, completely, sighing in frustration. I felt icky and my head hurt so much. I just wanted to curl into a ball and sleep all day, but I was restless and must have slept for hours.
I don't remember too much from last night. I can recall meeting up with Jordan, and then coming here and puking my guts out then eventually falling asleep. There was nothing else to my memories. It was like a giant chunk of my life was just missing.
I rolled onto my side and looked onto the bunk bed across from me that was empty. I wonder where the girls were?
My question was soon answered when the very blonde and brunette came into the room.
"Hey, you're awake," Jenna said, coming over to my bed and sitting by my feet while Tay went to the bottom bunk, lifting the mattress and pulling out a plastic bag with a few clothes in it. I guess she put it under there so no one would steal it. Speaking of which, where was my bag?
"Shit," I said, sharply. I sat up and looked around the room but didn't see it anywhere.
"What's the matter?" Jenna asked.
"My bag. Do you know where it is?"
She nodded no, sadly, but I should be the sad one here.
I groaned and held my face in my hands. My head was spinning and my throat was tightening like it does before you cry. It's so frustrating being this lost and not knowing what happened to you just the day before.
There was a distant knock by the door way. I shot my head up and was met by Vic. I definitely remember seeing him last night because he gave me that weird stuff that made me throw-up, but that was really it. He was smiling like always, coming in and walking over to Tay before handing her a shirt and pants. I recognized it as her work clothes and remembered she had asked him to wash it for her the other day.
He then turned to me and took something off his back; my backpack. He handed it to me and I sighed in relief. He was truly a saint, and I've never thought that of anyone before, but I was on the verge of tears and now I know Vic had my bag, and it's all okay.
"Thank you," I croaked, grabbing it and hugging it to my chest.
"Yeah," he responded before explaining that he had to get to the kitchen, then left. He was oddly short with us, especially me. Usually, he was very sweet and talkative, and I just hope I didn't do anything vulgar or embarrassing to him last night.
"Oh god, Tay, we should tell him the thing," Jenna suddenly exclaimed, getting excited. Tay had closed the door now and was in the middle of changing. She didn't even ask about changing in front of me- not that it mattered- She just did it and I somewhat liked that she was comfortable enough with me to do so. She finished up her pants and walked over to the bed Jenna and I were on, in only pants and a bra.
"Look, look." Jenna sang, flashing me her hand, and so did Tay. At first I was confused as to why they were sticking their hands in my face, but then I noticed the matching rings.
"We're engaged!" Jenna said and wow.
"Obviously, they aren't real rings since we can't afford that, but they're temporary and when we save up money, we'll get real ones." She explained. They looked like plastic rings you would win from a quarter machine, but you could tell they were happy and didn't care.
"It's the thought that matters," Tay said, pulling Jenna into a short-lived kiss.
"Congrats," I offered and they both said their thank yous at the same time.
