Chapter 3: Twilight Beast

• £ink's POV •

'Who are you?' I thought to myself.

"Midna?!" The figure said.

So Shadow Girl's name is Midna... What concerns me is that this figure.. not some spirit. I'm not a spirit either...

"Eee hee! You remembered my name? What an honor for me..." Midna said with a mini bow.

"So this is the one for whom you were searching..." The figure was female. She had soft and loving voice.

"He's not exactly what I had in mind, but... I guess he'll do." Midna giggled.

The figure kneeled down in front me and looked at my paw which still had the chain, as I sign of my imprisonment.

"... You were imprisoned? I am sorry." The figure said.

'Its ok!' I wanted to yell but it came out as a whine.

"Poor thing, he has no idea where this is, or what's happened... So shouldn't you explain to him what you've managed to do? You owe him that much..." Midna said while petting my head.

"...twilight princess!" Midna said while giggling.

Was this true? Was she the cause of this temporary darkness? The princess of this gloom?

"Listen carefully... This was once the land of the kingdom of Hyrule. But the blessed kingdom has been transformed by the king that rules the twilight... It is turned into a world of shadow, and ruled by those who shun light... They came upon my castle... I lost men that day... The king came to me for forcing reasons." She explained.

"It is time for you to choose: surrender or die. A question for all the land and people of Hyrule... Life or death?! His words were cruel and I choose to surrender... For my people. Twilight covered Hyrule like a shroud and without light, the people became spirits. They have no idea what they became of. All they know is fear." She stopped speaking and I tried to comprehend her words.

"The kingdom succumbed to twilight... But I remain as its princess." She removed her hood and revealed her facial features.

"I am Princess Zelda." She said slightly frowning.

Her pale face shone in twilight. Her bright blue eyes and brunette hair. She had long ears like mine. Her luscious brown locks of hair fell to the the sides. She was beautiful, and this is a state I wish to not meet her, but this is how I did.

As a twilight beast.

"You don't have to look so sad! We actually find it to be quite livable! I mean is perpetual twilight really all that bad?" Midna protested.

But it is bad. All family and friends. Turned into spirits that can not notice me! The world being continuously dark in the half time of day and night. Never to see light again...

"Midna... This is no time for levity. The shadow beasts have searching for you far and wide. Why is this?" Zelda said curiously.

"Why indeed? You tell me!" She said letting out a slight nervous laugh.

"Time has grown short and the guard will soon make his rounds. You must leave here quickly." Zelda looked at me one more time, and smiled.

Like I was hope. Her hope. That this world could change. Midna continued to ride on me until we reached back outside. I still thought about Zelda's smile.

"Well, now you understand where we are now... And promise is a promise, so I'll let you go back to where you first tumbled into twilight. But are you really sure you should go back? Are you sure your not forgetting something important?" She smirked at me and spinned.
