I drove quickly through the busy streets of Atlanta tapping the stirring wheel in anticipation. I stopped at what felt like the thousandth light hitting the stirring wheel in frustration resting my head on the head rest. I haven't slept in what felt like years and all I wanted to do was rest my eyes but I couldn't. I looked down at my son sleeping peacefully in the carseat. He was the positivity through all of this, the only good thing I got out of this whole thing. I was happy that I'd been through what I had because if I hadn't I wouldn't have him and he was the only thing making me want to survive this.
The light had turned green and I sped off without hesitation. My heart was racing and I knew something bad would happen tonight but as long as my baby was safe I was okay with whatever went down. I got to the parking garage and sped up to the fourth floor and sighed. I looked down at Elijah and kissed his chubby cheek. If something were to happen to me at least I knew that I had done something right. I grabbed his car seat and his baby bag and quickly exited the car. I checked my surroundings before speed walking across the parking lot to Joy's Mercedees. She got out when she seen me and pulled me into a tight hug.
"Here, all his things are in the bag. If I don't call you in 2 hours then take my baby somewhere safe and take care of him please." I said with my voice cracking. I didn't wanna cry because I didn't want to freak Joy or myself out.
"Don't worry...your gonna be able to come and get him from me okay just be careful Jayde please." I nodded and took a deep breath.
"I love you Joy you've held me down through this all and I don't know what I'd do without you."
"I love you more Jayde be safe." I nodded and we hugged once more before I started walking back to my car.
She was right, I was strong and I'd proven that. I wasn't doing this for myself I was doing this for my baby boy because he needed me and that was all the motivation I needed.
