*Kylo Rens pov
The black eye sockets of the mask stare blakley into me; taunting me; cursing me. I exhale a soft apology. I'm sorry. I'd done what Snoke had wanted-- I'd killed my own father-- so why did it just feed the turmoil in my gut?
I pursed my lips. The deep black of the old relic wasn't giving the expected motivation. Why wasn't Darth Freaking Vader doing the trick? The feelings of guilt that I'd thought I'd smashed into smithereens had been nagging at the back of my head lately, making me, for the first time in years, regret my decisions with a new depth. It almost seemed that I could feel the icy cold of my helmet through my gloves as I take another deep breath of the cool dark air, and lift it over my head, the new design fitting more snug than the last that was lost in the fire, but my new helmet was new, and free of the weight of its past. Or so I like to think.
"Sir," a stormtrooper says through the intercom system set up in the room, for I am the only one with permission to enter. "Supreme Leader has requested your presence."
"Alright." I say in my normal harsh tone, I can sense the the fear coming off him in waves even through the wall. It does with all of them. "Dismissed," I add and can sense as he scrambles to get away from me and my unpredictable temper.
I exit the dark room and begin the trek to Snoke's large cavern in which he dictates through a hologram.
"Kylo Ren," he rasps once I am standing in front of him.
"Master," I greet. Even his own student is afraid of him.
"Ever since a year ago when you killed Han Solo, you've been weaker. More susceptible to the light. Tell me why this is." his voice echos around the high ceilings.
"I do not know, master."
"Your weakness is undesirable."
"I know, master. I'm trying."
"Your weakness is turning you against the dark." he snarls.
"No master." I say, silently thanking my mask for distorting the quiver from my voice. "I would never betray the First Order."
"Then prove it to me. Find the girl and bring her to the dark. Kill Luke Skywalker. You have three weeks. If you fail, you will both be terminated as punishment."
"Yes master." I say, bowing my head and his hologram flickers away.
I hesitate for only a moment before turning and storming out of the chamber, making my way to the tracking room.
"Find the girl." I command the engineers once in the room, joining them myself at a computer much to their surprise.
A strange feeling settles in my chest. What it is, I can't tell, although I'm sure I've felt it before. Most likely before my eyes had been opened. This feeling is strange. Alian. But I have to admit that I like it. Almost immediately I push it away. It is a detraction and will only get in the way of my mission for the cause of it. The mission for Rey.
Three hours later we had found them. Pinpointed their location to a base the rebels had used once before, when my parents had been younger.
Hoth.
