*Kylo Rens pov
I wait sitting on a chair in front of her in her cell, my helmet on the floor next to me, thinking of both our fates if she won't agree. Suddenly, the sound of a sharp and sudden intake of breath startled me out of my thoughts.
"Well good morning, Sleeping Beauty." I smile but then freeze realizing what slipped out.
She just smiles slightly at me.
I cough. "Rey, how's... Uh.."
She snorts, amused at my embarrassment for the slip. "Oh Ben, we were best friends! Why did you turn?"
"No we weren't."
"Yes, we were. Luke was able to break the memory block in my head. I remember the academy, I remember my parents, Ben, I remember you."
I glared at her. "You're eleven years too late."
After I had been isolated, due to my outbursts of anger, from everyone except for Luke had been band from seeing me. Months later and I'd snapped. If someone had been able to reach out and help me in those first couple years of my allegiance to the First Order, I would have crumbled under the pressure and pain, gladly taking the option of redemption.
She smiles sadly. "What do you want?"
I wave my hand and her restraints are released. "Join me in the dark side. I will teach you."
She looks at me disbelievingly, rubbing her wrists. "You know the answer, and yet you ask."
"Dark or dead." The words swirled. I can't let my childhood friend die. I don't know why I couldn't stand the idea of Rey's death. I guess that somewhere deep down inside, despite the passing of time, I still loved the little girl who'd been my friend.
"You understand that my orders were 'dark or dead'. Because right now, you're really playing the death card pretty valiantly." I scowled.
She scowled "What makes me different than all those other people you've killed?"
I don't know what to say.
"Rey," I explain "I will be your teacher. I can show unlimited power!"
She sighs, "Ben, you already know the answer."
"Please don't call me that name. Ben is dead." I grip the bridge of my nose, hoping to release some of the now terrible pressure in my head. I feel the light stronger than ever.
She looks at me ever so sadly, still in her interrogation chair although I took off the restraints. "Please tell me why I must turn."
I sit back down on the chair in front of Rey, not looking at her, nor answering.
"If you want me to, then you'll show me," she stubbornly insists.
I don't answer, but feel her enter my thoughts anyways. Although I know I shouldn't, I shove the memory towards her.
*Reys pov
I grab the memory that I can tell he wanted me to see. As it starts, I can tell I'm not Ben, I'm watching all this happen from my own body, next to him, although I can feel his emotions.
Sadness. Fear. Longing.
As the memory ends, I look at him. He's sitting on that chair in front of me looking smaller and defeated as ever with a mission he doesn't know if he can accomplish or not.
"Ben, this is what the dark side is. Come back to the light, we'll welcome you with arms open." I say.
He looks at me angrily and stomps over to the far wall on my left and punches it then walks back in front of me and grabs my chin with a gloved hand forcing me to look at him.
"It's too late." his voice cracks and her drops his arm.
"No it's-"
"When you've made up your mind on whether to join me or not, send me a trooper." he picks up his helmet, puts it on then leaves the room.
