THE BIG FOUR STORY: Chapter 29 - Here we go again

Hiccup's P.O.V

“Are you sure you’re alright?” I asked Merida. “Would you quit it, goodness I’m fine Hiccup.” Merida stated as she rolled her eyes. “I was just wondering okay, Pitch knocked you down pretty hard.” I tried. “You got knocked down too Hiccup.” Merida laughed. “Yeah but not as bad as Jack.” I quipped. Merida began to chortle with a couple snorts thrown into the mix of it. I practically began to glow at the feel of knowing I was the one who had made her laugh. I began to laugh along with her until Rapunzel approached us. Merida quieted down and looked back at Jack. “I think you’ve gone and shocked him.” She laughed. Both Rapunzel and I looked over in his direction and saw that he was smiling ridiculously with his hand on his cheek. I laughed as I shook my head. “So what do we do now?” Rapunzel asked. “Should we hunt him down?” Merida asked. “No.” Jack answered as he joined us. “We need to make sure all of your families are safe.” Jack stated. “What? Why?” Merida asked. “You heard Pitch you all have people who care about you, you need to go to them and make sure they are safe.” Jack explained. “What about you?” I asked Jack. He remained silent. “Jack?” Rapunzel asked as she put her hand on his shoulder. “You don’t need to do this you know?” Jack suddenly stated. “What do you mean?” I asked him. “You all have people waiting for you….I don’t. You all could get hurt, maybe even your families. I don’t want that to happen.” Jack explained. “Don’t you get it Jack?” I laughed. Jack turned to me and shot me a confused look. “You’re not going to get rid of us that easily. Sure it’s dangerous but it’s nothing we can’t handle. After all I’m a Viking, I mean look at this.” I joked as I flexed my non existing muscles. Jack laughed at my joke, Rapunzel giggled, and Merida chortled once more causing me to light up again. Jack ruffled my hair and put me into a headlock. “Alright dragon whisperer.” Jack laughed. “He’s right, come on Jack.” Merida stated. Jack released me and sighed. “I still think it’s the best bet right now.” Jack stated. “What is?” Merida asked. “To go to your families.” Jack answered. Merida flinched at his answer. Jack saw this and smirked. “Here we go.” Rapunzel sighed. “What makes you think I want to go back to my family?” Merida barked. “Well this could be the last time you see them.” Jack sighed. “You don’t know that.” Merida snapped. “You’re right I don’t.” Jack said calmly. “You can’t make me go.” Merida stated curtly. Jack just rolled his eyes in response. “You know, you have no idea how lucky you are?” Jack laughed. “Pardon?” Merida asked as she put her hands on her hips. “You have a family that’s probably worried sick about you right now, and……you don’t even care.” Jack explained. Merida’s tough poster suddenly softened. “I do care.” She cried. ”It sure doesn’t seem like it.” Jack snapped. “Jack stop!” Rapunzel intervened but Jack ignored her. “You have no idea what it feels like do have every day of your life planned out for you! You aren’t being forced into marriage to a stranger! You aren’t losing your freedom!” Merida shouted. Jack remained silent. “Your parents are just doing what’s best for you.” Jack said coolly. Suddenly Merida clenched her fists in anger and bit down on her lip. “She looks like she’s about to explode.” Rapunzel stated. “What do you know about family?! You don’t have one!” Merida barked. “Unbelievable.” Jack alleged sternly. Jack started to storm off in the opposite direction of Merida. “Oh what did I do know?” Merida scoffed. “It’s a very touchy subject for him okay.” I tried. “Jack get back here!” I shouted as I followed him into the next room. He was muttering to himself as he waved around his staff. “Jack, she didn’t mean it. You know how she is when you get her all riled up. Plus you know that marriage is an irritable issue for her.” I tried. Jack started to laugh uncontrollably. “Did I say something funny or…..?” I trailed. “No, no it’s just sad.” He stated. “What is?” I asked. “You keep defending her because you care for her, but she has no idea does she?” He explained. I sighed in annoyance. “Are you serious right now? I just chased you all the way in here to comfort you and you go ahead and make this about me.” I vented. “Oh come on Hiccup you know it’s true.” He laughed. “Did you even hear what she said to you?” I stated. Jack remained silent and turned his back to me. “I’ve already forgotten about it.” Jack laughed but his laugh was weak and unconvincing. “Jack-“ I started but stopped at the sound of the door behind me opening. It was Merida and Rapunzel. “Guys?” I questioned. Merida was still red in the face from her outburst, and Rapunzel looked a bit uneasy. “I talked to her.” She mouthed to me. I nodded in acknowledgement and assured them into the room. “Jack?” Rapunzel asked. Jack glanced over his shoulder to look at her. His upset expression softened at the sight of her. “He is so crushing on her.” I thought to myself smugly.  “We know that your life is much different from ours but that doesn’t mean you aren’t different from us. We are your friends Jack, and we are in this together. We can be your new family Jack.” Rapunzel explained. Jack still had his back to the three of us and remained silent. I felt Merida nudge past me and storm towards Jack. “Merida wait!” I tried but she ignored me. She had grabbed Jack by the ear and pulled him down towards her eye level. “Rapunzel just gave you a wonderful speech, and offered you a new family! You better thank her right now or so help me!” Merida shouted. Jack just smirked inwardly and looked at Rapunzel and mouthed “Thank you” to her. Rapunzel smiled in return. “So I’m guessing this is your apology?” Jack quipped to Merida. Merida released his ear and punched him in the arm playfully. “Duh.” She stated in frustration. Jack chuckled softly and ruffled Merida’s hair. “I still don’t want to face my family right now.” Merida stated quietly. Jack turned to her. “You don’t have to right now but you might reconsider later.” Jack said. Merida smiled and nodded contently. “I think we should head to Berk first.” Jack stated as he looked at me. “Wha-what?! Why Berk? I mean do you really want to deal with the gang again Jack?” I tried but Jack laughed. “That’s exactly why we are going. I want to make them believe plus you’ll get to show off your new girlfriend to everyone. “Jack said as he pointed to Merida and winked at me. I blushed in embarrassment. Merida glanced at me and our eyes locked for a moment. Her stubborn look softened and her pale cheeks pinked as she gazed at me. “That sounds like a wonderful idea.” Merida agreed. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. “We get to see where Hiccup’s from?!” Rapunzel squealed. “That’s right Punzie.” Jack answered. “Alright fine.” I said in defeat. “We should be looking for Pitch.” I said under my breath. “Don’t worry we will be. I’m almost positive that at least some of his nightmares are on Berk. Once we get there we can take care of them, and you never know maybe we’ll find some clues to where he is.” Merida stated. Rapunzel opened her mouth to say something but Jack began to cough uncontrollably to silence her. She looked at Jack questionably. He nodded his head no at her as if to say don’t say anything. Jack then looked at me. He smiled and started to whistle. “I’ll find out sooner or later.” I whispered to him as we left the room. “I’ll tell you just not now.” He whispered back. “What do you know where Pitch is?” I asked. He nodded yes and twirled his staff. The girls were way ahead of us talking loudly. “Why didn’t you want to tell us?” I asked. “Because Pitch’s domain is dangerous you can’t just barge in, and knowing Miss Crazy over there she will do exactly that.” Jack explained as he pointed to Merida. “I get it.” I stated. “So what are we going to do in the mean time?” I asked. “We wait, Pitch will eventually come out of his cave. Especially if we continue to destroy his nightmares. He will grow impatient with us and attack.” Jack explained. I gulped at Jack’s last statement. “Is the great Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III scared?!” Jack teased as he poked me in the ribs with his staff. “Pffft scared? Please I’m not even close to scared.” I lied. Jack chuckled softly as he nudged my shoulder with his own. “I’ll make your worst nightmares a reality.” Pitch’s voice echoed in my mind. I shook my head hoping the fear would leave me as I did it. “C’mon slow pokes!” Rapunzel called from down the hall. “Yeah let’s go you two! You two walk slower than my ole grannie!” Merida teased. “I’m going to make you eat those words frizz ball!” Jack called back as he grabbed the back of my shirt and lifted me up. Suddenly Jack flew down the hallway and reached the girls in lightning speed as he pulled me with him. “I think I prefer riding Toothless.” I admitted. Toothless rumbled in response and ran at me. He nudged me with his large head and looked up at me with his big green eyes. “I know bud; it’s time to go home for a visit.” I cooed. Pascal suddenly appeared on top of Toothless’ head. “Pascal?” Rapunzel questioned. I waited for Toothless to growl or act annoyed by the tiny chameleon but he seemed content with him. “Find a new friend Toothless?” I asked him. He rumbled in response and looked up at Pascal. Pascal chirped happily and crawled to the bridge of Toothless’ head. They looked at each other playfully. “It sure looks like it.” Rapunzel laughed. “That’s good.” I responded. “Come on I want to see Berk.” Merida said impatiently. “Me too!” Rapunzel agreed. I climbed on top of Toothless and offered Merida my hand. She took it without hesitation and climbed on. She wrapped her arms around my waist like she did before and laid her head against my back. I smiled awkwardly to myself and heard Jack chuckle. My head snapped towards him and saw that he was holding Rapunzel bridal style while she was attempting to gather all of her hair in her arms. “Are we using a snow globe?” I asked Jack. “Nah it’s not too far from here.” He stated. “Let’s go Bud.” I stated to Toothless. Toothless instantly took off in the direction of home with Rapunzel and Jack trailing behind us.
