THE BIG FOUR STORY: Chapter 70- Tricked

Jack’s P.O.V

“Just shake my hand.” Pitch demanded. I was hesitant, I mean who wouldn’t be? But I couldn’t just let him and his lackeys hurt Rapunzel. “Fine.” I huffed as I shook it loosely. “There, now was that so hard?” Pitch chuckled evilly. I glanced over my shoulder to see Rapunzel in the arms of Gothel. She was visibly in tears and shockingly upset. “What?” I murmured as I made  a step towards her but Pitch quickly stopped me. “Not so fast there, Jackie! We aren’t done yet.” Pitch stated. “What?! No, no, no all you said was that I had to shake your hand, which I can’t understand why. What else do you want?” I exclaimed. “I want you out of the picture.” Pitch snapped.  I backed away from Pitch slightly and tightened the grip on my staff in case I had to attack. “Well sorry to break it to ya Pitch but I’m not going anywhere! Your time is about to come to an end and don’t think for a second you can run away from it.” I stated firmly as I raised my staff towards Pitch. “Oh Jack you never learn.” Pitch laughed. “What do you mean?” I questioned. “I told you to shake my hand so Rapunzel will think we were working together this whole time. She already doubted you! And you ran away when she told you she was in love with you! You were the one who set yourself up for all of this! Not me! You convinced her, not me.” Pitch revealed. Realization and true dread washed over me. I had broken Rapunzel’s heart and hadn’t even realized it. “I have to tell her the truth!” I gasped as I flew towards her, but Pitch stopped me once again. “Oh that’s adorable you think you can just fly right back to her and tell her the truth but here’s the catch, Jackie. If you so speak a single word to her of the truth; Gothel will not hesitate to kill her.” Pitch explained. “Then Gothel will die! She needs Rapunzel to live! She wouldn’t do that!” I cried. “You want to test that theory?” Pitch chuckled. I stared at Rapunzel longingly as she and her mother walked off and out of view. “Rapunzel….” I trailed. “Oh and that’s not all it…..I’ll be needing your staff Jack.” Pitch added.  I quickly brought my staff close to me and far out of Pitch’s reach. “Like hell I’m giving it to you!” I shouted. “You will if you want Rapunzel to live.” Pitch laughed. He stood with his hand outstretched towards me reaching for my staff. “How do I know you won’t cheat me like you did last time?” I questioned. “It looks like little Jackie is learning…..I have no use for Rapunzel after you’re out of the picture, so why would I go after her?” Pitch stated. I didn’t want to give it to him but Rapunzel was in danger. Even if the truth was never revealed to her, it was better than her being dead. I love her and this is what needs to be one in order for her to be safe. “I’m sorry Rapunzel.” I whispered as I tossed my staff over to Pitch and instantly fell to the ground below. As I fell I caught a short glimpse of the moon. M.I.M was surely looking down in disappointment, but I didn’t care. All I cared about was that Rapunzel was safe and it would stay that way for a very long time. Once I came into contact with the ground everything went black.
