Rapunzel’s P.O.V

It all happened so fast. Pitch had grabbed my hair and cut it with a well hidden knife that he had conjured using his nightmare sand. I fell back with my hair in my hands and watched in horror as my hair turned from its golden blonde, to a lifeless brown.  Hiccup instantly had Toothless hold Pitch in place as Merida and Jack ran to my side. “What’s happening?!” Merida exclaimed as she grabbed handfuls of my hair. “It’s losing its power!” I cried. “But it’s the only way to stop Pitch!” Hiccup shouted. Jack fired his staff in anger as he watched my hair slowly change. “There has to be a way to stop it.” Jack groaned in frustration. “The only way you could fix it would be if you could stop time!” I cried. Jack lifted his staff and stared at it curiously. “What if you could freeze time?” He questioned. Hiccup turned to him worryingly. “It would have to be awfully cold.” Merida stated. “It’s better than this outcome. Just try it Jack! We have to hurry before it completely changes!” I shouted. Jack nodded his head before flying up into the air with his staff. Up in the air I watched as Jack lifted his staff horizontally. Jack closed his eyes and frowned as he concentrated. Almost instantly I could feel the temperature drop. The wind picked up once more as snowflakes fell rapidly. I could feel the bite of the freezing cold. Hiccup was shivering as the snow fell so thick that visibility was practically nonexistent. I too felt utterly cold as I wrapped my arms around myself to keep warm. In a matter of time everything stopped. I opened my eyes to see that the violent storm that Jack had conjured was frozen in place. Snowflakes floated still in midair instead of falling down, as the wind stopped all together. Jack fell from his perch in the sky and landed in the snow that he had created. “Jack!” Hiccup shouted as he ran to him. I too got up but Merida stopped me. “No! You need to get to Pitch. You have to heal him before time starts again.” Merida explained. Jack had managed to freeze time, and my hair was halfway brown now, but the progression of the loss of my healing ability was stopped. “Okay.” I agreed. Quickly I ran towards Toothless. The dragon still held Pitch in an unnerving position. His front legs pinned his arms down while his head was cocked back and ready to fire at any given moment. Pitch groaned and struggled as I approached him. “Get away from me!” He spat. “I’m going to heal you!” I exclaimed as I draped my hair over him. “I don’t need your help! There is nothing to heal.” Pitch cried. “You weren’t always like this. You became this way to save your daughter Pitch. There’s something dark inside of you, something broken.  I’m going to fix you. “I exclaimed. Suddenly I watched as Pitch relaxed slightly. I could see him give in. I quickly glance over at Hiccup for some reassurance. “Jack’s still breathing!” He shouted as he gave me a thumbs up. Merida appeared by my side and hugged me. “You can do this Punzie.” Merida stated seriously. “I can do this.” I told myself. I took multiple deep breathes before I gathered the confidence to heal Pitch. “Flower gleam and glow. Let your power shine. Make the clock reverse; bring back what once was mine. Heal what has been hurt. Change the Fates' design. Save what has been lost. Bring back what once was mine. What once was mine.” I sang. Right before my eyes I watched as Pitch tossed and turned violently. The monster before was being rid of the evil inside of him. He cried out in pain as the darkness was ripped out him. My healing incantation drove the shadow out him, and slowly Pitch Black once again was Kozmotis Pitchiner. The man was obviously struggling as pure darkness poured from his mouth. It was a horrifying sight all by itself but I refused to look away. “Remember you daughter! Remember how much you loved her! You risked your life to save hers from the shadow that possesses you! Remember how much you loved her!” I cried. Suddenly the mention of Pitch’s daughter set everything in motion. The shadow was expelled from his body at the mention of his daughter. Pitch must have remembered the pure and definite love for his daughter in order to expel it. That kind of love drove the shadow out of him and back into the world. Just as a large, dark shadow formed before me, time began to start again. The rest of the snow that remained floating while time was frozen fell to the ground. While my hair quickly fell from my shoulders and turned completely brown. At this point I was powerless; all I could do now was pray that my powers weren’t going to be needed later on.
