Jack’s P.O.V

I was glad to see that Hiccup found the humor in all of this. It was all over now, and now a new adventure started for all of us. After that we all went our separate ways. Merida had eventually brought herself to give me a hug when I tried to say goodbye, but it was better said than done. “See you around frizz ball.” I teased as I hugged her. Hiccup was a much different approach.  In the beginning I found Hiccup all alone. He was different and lonely just like me. But now he had Toothless and the great expectation to become chief. In a way I was proud of him. Hiccup had come a long way, and in truth it was hard for me to let him go. But they all had to grow up, better sooner than later. “C’mere you!” I exclaimed as I grabbed Hiccup and held him in a head lock. “Uncle! Uncle! Let go Jack! This is no way to say goodbye to someone!” He shouted in retaliation. I released him and hugged him genuinely. “Maybe next time I see you, you’ll be able to take me without using your dragon.” I joked. Hiccup only rolled his eyes at me and punched my arm softly. “Maybe next time I see you, you’ll be able to beat me in a race on the back of Toothless.” He teased back. “Touché!” I laughed. After that Hiccup and Merida left on the back of Toothless. Something in my heart lurched when I realized that would probably be the last time I saw either of those two for a while.  “Jack?” Rapunzel called. I turned to face her only to see that Pitch was wandering off. “Where are you going!” I called out to him. He only turned and pointed down below. “We’ll be right back, stay here.” I suggested as I scooped up Rapunzel. She squealed in surprise as I kicked off of the ground hard and flew away. “Where are we going?!” She exclaimed. “For you: home.” I answered with a dumb smirk on my face. I could almost sense the sudden nervousness in her. “Relax Punzie they’ve been waiting for this for way too long. You’re finally where you belong.” I explained. Rapunzel smiled and pointed at the castle coming into view.  “This is it, this is goodbye.” I thought to myself as I landed gently on a balcony. A guard making its rounds spotted Rapunzel right away, and quickly ran to the King and Queen. “Do you think they’ll believe me?” She asked. “What? That you’re their long lost daughter?” I inquired. Rapunzel nodded her head yes in response. “Of course, a mother never forgets her child’s face so I’ll think you’ll be just fine.” I chuckled. Suddenly the doors burst open and the King and Queen appeared in the door way. Both of Rapunzel’s parents looked directly at her in surprise. The Queen ran forward first, slowly and gently she lifted her hand to Rapunzel’s cheek and caressed it softly. Tears gathered in Punzie’s eyes as did her parent’s. “Welcome home.” Her mother whispered just before she embraced her. Rapunzel’s father glanced at me and nodded in recognition before he too hugged Rapunzel. “He could see me?!” I asked myself. It was amazing for someone as old as him that believed, or maybe it was a coincidence. Either way I felt complete. Rapunzel was with her family now. She was home now. After the newly reunited family broke apart from their hug Rapunzel looked back at me as her parents guided her inside the castle. “Wait just a second.” She stated to her parents before running at me. Rapunzel quickly threw herself at me and hugged me. “Thank you Jack I will always believe in you.” Rapunzel swore as she kissed my cheek and pulled away. But right before she slipped away I pulled her back in and kissed her.  I pulled back only to see her dazed and blushing as usual. “Now go find your new dream.” I laughed as I lead her back to her parents. That was the last time I saw her; she disappeared behind the closing doors with her parents after that.  “Thanks for the adventure.” I chuckled as I took off and left a light snow fall behind. When I looked back at the castle in the distance I saw Rapunzel standing out on the balcony playing in the snow with her parents. It felt good to know that I caused that, but after all that’s what we guardians do.
