A/N Are you excited? I know I am! First chapter of Desolation of Smaug! It's my favorite of the three and in this fanfic it has the most plot. However Battle of the Five Armies will be outstanding. I hope you enjoy!

Bilbo and I quickly returned to the company. The Warg pack was not that far. But I had spotted a large creature in the distance and apparently so had Bilbo. "How close is the pack?" Thorin asked us.

Bilbo was panting, "Too close, coupe of leagues, no more..."

"But that's not the worst of it," I finished.

"Have the orcs picked up our scenes?" Dwalin asked eagerly.

"Not yet but they will do. We have another problem," Bilbo urged.

"Did they see you? They saw you," Gandalf said. We shook our heads. "See, what did I tell you? Quiet as a mouse. Excellent burglar material!" All of the dwarves talking amongst themselves agreeing.

"Will you just listen!" I shout. "We're trying to tell you there is something else out there!" Bilbo nodded.

"What form did it take? Like a bear?" Gandalf asked suddenly serious.

"Y-yes," I said.

"But much larger!" Bilbo finished. The group was plastered with frightened faces.

Bofur spoke up, "You knew about this beast?" Gandalf didn't answer. "I say we double back."

"We'll be run down by a pack of orcs," Thorin stated, but it sounded more like a question.

Gandalf, finally seeming to make up his mind, filled the silence, "There is a house, it's not far from here, where we might take refuge."

Thorin stepped forward, "Who's house? Are they friend or foe?"

"Neither," the wizard paused. "He will help us or he will kill us>'

"What choice do we have?" Throin asked.

"None."

After running quite a long distance and almost getting mauled by a huge bear we finally made it. "That is our host. His name is Beorn and he is a skin changer.  Sometimes he's a huge black bear, sometimes he's a great strong man. The bear is unpredictable, but the man can be reasoned with. However, he is not over fond of dwarves."

I glanced around. Thanks Gandalf. Take a bunch of dwarves to a man who dislikes them. What on earth did I sign up for? Sighing I walked back to Bilbo, who had found a small bundle of hay clumped around a large wooden pole. "Hey," I said softly, leaning against the splintering beam.

"Hi Iredessa." He looked worried.

"Are you alright?" I asked him. I sat in front of him crisscross applesauce with my hand on his knee. "You've seemed a little," I waved my hand in the air searching for a word. "Jumpy."

He chuckled every so subtly, "Well don't I have a right to be?" I cocked my head teasingly. "You know exactly what I mean."

I gave him a cheeky smile. "Yea I do." I yawned. "It's been one adventurous day. Goblins, Wargs, huge bear... things."

He laughed and nodded lazily. "It is very much past bed time for you young lady. Off to sleep with you."

I sighed standing up and dusting off my pants. "Alright, alright mother. " He smiled at me. "I'll see you in the morning Bilbo."

He waved me off, "Sweet dreams."

I blew him a extremely fake kiss and went over to my favourite Durins. "Hiya," I said cheerfully. The two of the eagerly waved me over. I squished in between the two of them. "Soooooo. How was your day?"

They laughed. "Well you know," Fili started. "We fought some goblins, knocked down some trees, and ran from a beast."

"I'd say pretty adventurous," Kili grinned.

"I agree. And on that note, I am quite worn out," I yawned laying down. "I think I'm going to go to sleep."

A/N Sooo this actually took two months to write and it's actually really bad. I've always found the transition from the first to the second film is hard to write. Hopefully I'll have the time to update more.
