A/N: I hate this chapter but  it's too hard to take it out and rewrite a new idea to fit all of the pieces so I'm sorry

Dessa pov

I sat on the sofa in the den. Gandalf was talking to Bilbo in a room down the hall. A quest? Am I really ready to leave the Shire and travel all the way the the Lonely Mountain?  I pushed those thoughts aside as soon as two dwarves plopped down on either side of me.

"Hey Dessa!" Kili said energetically.

"Are you alright?" Fili asked. "You look a bit pale."

"Y-yes. It's just... I've never left the Shire. And I hardly think I'll be anything but a burden..." I looked down at my feet.

"Don't worry! I think you'll be great!" Kili laid a reassuring hand on my shoulder. Fili nodded in agreement.

"Thanks, guys..."

All of the dwarves were gather around by the fireplace. I was leaning against the wall right outside listening. A deep tune began.

Far over the Misty Mountains cold
To dungeons deep and caverns old

We must away, ere break of day
To find our long-forgotten gold.

The pines were roaring on the height.
The winds were moaning in the night.
The fire was red. It flaming spread.
The trees like torches blazed with light.

The song was beautiful. I figured it was late so I headed for the door. "Where are you going?" Kili asked.

"Just home to pack a few things," I replied.

"May I come? I haven't seen much of the Shire." I nodded to him and walked into the night.

It was quite cold outside, but no wind. The lake reflected the gloom of the moon. Slowly lights from the homes were going out. "Well this is Hobbiton. Down there is the markets and the Green Dragon. Best pub there is. Oh and over there is Greenland. It's a very beautiful forest." I continued to point out my favorite places to him until we got to my house. "Here we are." I twisted the handle and walked in. Kili shut the door behind him.

"Wow. It's very nice." He looked around on his own while I went to get packed. As soon as I was ready I found him. "Is this yours?" He held up a bow.

I nodded. "It was my mother's." I held out my hand, he gave it to me, and I picked up my quiver of arrows and swung them around my back. "Thank you. Are you ready?" I asked grabbing my father's sword.

"Yeah," he said and we walked back up to Bilbo's. When we got there, most of the dwarves were already asleep. All except Thorin who glared at me intensely. Kili walked down the hall to find an open couch and he sat on it. I followed him over and sat next to him and curled upon it. "Are you ready for tomorrow?"

"I don't know... I think it'll be good though, for me. I haven't had any adventure for at least 20 years... it'll be good to start." I responded laying my head on the arm of the couch. "Goodnight Kili."

"Goodnight Des."
